There’s a small grocery store about three minutes away where the owner started recognizing me by day two – that kind of neighborhood feel you just can’t get in the tourist zone. The beach at Lapad Bay is right there too, and it’s where Croatian families go on weekends, not just cruise ship passengers taking selfies.

The apartment itself feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a rental. Everything works properly – I mean everything. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out when you’re trying to video call home, the air conditioning actually cools the place down, and the kitchen has real equipment, not those flimsy tourist apartment basics. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because, well, the local market has incredible produce and it felt natural to use that beautiful kitchen. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that weird apartment-rental back ache, and the whole space stays surprisingly quiet despite being in a residential area. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no drama, no waiting around, just someone who clearly knows what they’re doing. That 9.4 rating starts making sense when you realize it’s these accumulated small victories that make a stay actually enjoyable rather than just tolerable.
