You know what hit me first about Shee-Lu Suites? The street itself – ulica Nikole Božidarevića is this narrow, stone-paved lane that actually feels like Old Town Dubrovnik, not some tourist trap version of it. I mean, you’re literally steps from the main drag, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds streaming past your window at 7 AM. The building has that authentic Dalmatian stone thing going on, and honestly, walking up to it feels like you’re arriving at someone’s really well-appointed home rather than a hotel.

The suites themselves are… well, they’re what you’d hope for but rarely get in these historic locations. Everything’s been renovated with actual taste – I’m talking about bathrooms where you can actually move around, air conditioning that works (crucial in July, trust me), and windows that open to let in those evening breezes from the Adriatic. The beds are properly comfortable, not just pretty, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. What really got me was the attention to details that matter – good lighting for reading, outlets where you need them, and thick enough walls that you’re not hearing every conversation from the next room. The kitchenette situation is actually functional too, which is rare for these boutique places.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re there – you’re close enough to Stradun that you can pop out for dinner or drinks without planning an expedition, but far enough up the hill that you escape most of the noise and chaos. It’s maybe a three-minute walk to Rector’s Palace, two minutes to some of the best konobas in the old city (the locals actually eat at the place around the corner), and you can reach the city walls without breaking a sweat. Parking is… well, it’s Dubrovnik, so forget about parking anywhere nearby. But the staff actually helps coordinate the whole shuttle situation from the designated lots, which saves you from wandering around with your luggage like a lost tourist.

The 9.7 rating honestly makes sense when you stay there – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, just genuinely well-run. The people managing it clearly know Dubrovnik and understand what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos. Check-in was smooth, they had solid recommendations for restaurants (including a few spots away from the tourist circuit), and when I had questions about day trips, they knew their stuff. I’d definitely stay there again, especially in shoulder season when you can really appreciate having a quiet base in the middle of everything.

  Coffee and tea making facilities, plus a fridge meant we could enjoy morning coffee on the balcony overlooking the whole city – perfect!

  My room was on top left and view was fantastic. You can overlook old city's roof tops. Room was clean and spacious. The owner of Shee-Lu Suites was very kind and she answered all questions I asked. She gave me information like "Luggage Pick Up Service" and where to visit and what to do in Dubrovnik. The location is right in the middle of Dubrovnik old city and you can walk to all places from the Suites.
  
  What could be improved: Only thing in the room was that there's no shower curtain or door so we had to be very careful when taking shower. Otherwise water may spread in other parts of bathroom. 😂

  The apartment was amazing, the view from the balcony was fantastic and we made the most of every opportunity to sit out there and enjoy it. The location was right in the heart of the old town so endless bars, shops and restaurants were on our doorstep.

  We enjoyed our stay here. Great location, cozy and comfortable. Perfect for Dubrovnik. It was hot and we were easily able to go relax and cool off in between outings.

  This was a fantastic spot, close to restaurants, shops and sights.
  We left our bags in the foyer as we were a little early checking in and also got our checkout time extended a little.
  Nothing was too much trouble and the apartment was well appointed, had a little balcony looking out over old town Dubrovnik, very comfortable bed and great air-conditioning which we appreciated.

  Location was amazing. Apartment was spacious, clean, tasteful and loaded with charm. Dijana was incredibly responsive and clearly interested in her guests having a worry-free stay.

  The apartment was easily reached from taxi drop off at Pile Gate but there were less steps to negotiate with luggage and taxis are able to park up for slightly longer period at the Ploce Gate.
  
  What could be improved: Restaurants are quite expensive and charge London prices and drinks are unfortunately definitely overpriced as compared to some other cities but if you choose to go to Dubrovnik then that is what it is and has nothing to do with my excellent hosts.
