Everything’s been renovated with actual taste – I’m talking about bathrooms where you can actually move around, air conditioning that works (crucial in July, trust me), and windows that open to let in those evening breezes from the Adriatic. The beds are properly comfortable, not just pretty, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. What really got me was the attention to details that matter – good lighting for reading, outlets where you need them, and thick enough walls that you’re not hearing every conversation from the next room. The kitchenette situation is actually functional too, which is rare for these boutique places.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re there – you’re close enough to Stradun that you can pop out for dinner or drinks without planning an expedition, but far enough up the hill that you escape most of the noise and chaos. It’s maybe a three-minute walk to Rector’s Palace, two minutes to some of the best konobas in the old city (the locals actually eat at the place around the corner), and you can reach the city walls without breaking a sweat. Parking is… well, it’s Dubrovnik, so forget about parking anywhere nearby. But the staff actually helps coordinate the whole shuttle situation from the designated lots, which saves you from wandering around with your luggage like a lost tourist.

The 9.7 rating honestly makes sense when you stay there – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, just genuinely well-run. The people managing it clearly know Dubrovnik and understand what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos. Check-in was smooth, they had solid recommendations for restaurants (including a few spots away from the tourist circuit), and when I had questions about day trips, they knew their stuff. I’d definitely stay there again, especially in shoulder season when you can really appreciate having a quiet base in the middle of everything.
