You know what struck me first about Stella del Mare? It’s actually tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street called Kovacka ulica, and I mean really tucked away – the kind of spot where you walk past twice before realizing you’ve found it. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. You’re literally in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, surrounded by those iconic limestone walls, yet it feels like you’ve discovered some secret hideaway that most tourists never stumble upon.
The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for Old Town standards (and trust me, space is premium here). What I loved most was how they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with that authentic Croatian stone architecture – you’ve got these gorgeous exposed stone walls that probably date back centuries, but then there’s proper air conditioning and a kitchen that actually works. The 9.5 rating makes total sense when you experience it firsthand. The owner clearly gets what travelers need – there are thoughtful touches everywhere, like local restaurant recommendations written on actual paper (not just some generic printout) and extra blankets that smell like lavender instead of storage.
Location-wise, well, you’re about a two-minute walk from Stradun, which is the main drag everyone talks about, but here’s the thing – you’re far enough from the cruise ship crowds that you can actually sleep at night. I stayed there in July, which is absolutely mad season for Dubrovnik, and while the main squares were packed with selfie sticks and tour groups, stepping back into Kovacka ulica felt like entering a different world. You’ll hear the occasional late-night reveler, sure, but it’s nothing compared to staying right on the main strip. Plus, there’s this little bakery just around the corner that opens at 6 AM – the smell of fresh bread drifting through the stone streets is honestly better than any alarm clock. The only minor thing I’d mention is that luggage can be a bit tricky since cars can’t get down these medieval streets, but they give you clear instructions and it’s really not that bad if you pack smart. For what you get – authentic Old Town living without the tourist chaos – it’s actually pretty perfect.

Enjoyable 4 night stay in a great location. Everything was great. It was well appointed with good attention to detail. Slavica the host was informative and easy to contact. The location was perfect for everything we did in the old town. My only minor point is the beds were a little hard.
A little hidden gem nestled in the beautiful old town If you want to stay in the heart of the old town then this is the ideal accommodation for location and comfort. The host does above and beyond to ensure you have the perfect stay.
Great apartment in Dubrovnik city! The apartment is very well located, not far from the Stradun, harbour, restaurants and all sightseeing and amenities. Although not far from the city centre the apartment was very quiet and peaceful at night. A few steps, but not a problem for us, although I wouldn't recommend for people with limited mobility. The apartment was extremely comfortable for our 4 night stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
The host Slavica was easily contactable, she even bought a toaster along for us. Leo was on hand to collect us from the airport, phoning Slavica in advance so she could meet us and take us to the apartment. Leo took us back to the airport for our flight home. Current charge 40 Euros each way.
Just one little thing, if you arrive on a Sunday the local supermarkets are not open. We had tea and coffee facilities, but would have appreciated some milk as it was Sunday.

Great place, fantastic host! It's in a great location, very central while still being a quiet street. Bed's very comfy but what really stands out is the host who was incredibly helpful and really went above and beyond!!

Delightful Apartment inside the Old Town Walls Really enjoyed our stay at this apartment. Our host Slavica was extremely helpful and met us at the Buza gate to accompy us to the nearby apartment. Apartment was in an excellent location very close to everywhere we could want to go inside the Old Town walls. It was also very clean and had all the facilities we could need for our 5 night stay. Highly recommended.
We had a great holiday, accommodation was perfect. The apartment is in a great location close to Stradun, the main street. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Our host Slavica was brilliant, so helpful. Transfer from/to airport was also great.

Excellent care and a comfortable stay. It’s really atmospheric to stay in the old town and this property was just perfect for our short stay. Slavica, who manages the property was so accommodating and helped us with all our transfers to and from. Comfortable beds, very clean and lots of quirky and authentic features… we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Dubrovnik. Even though the main square is at the bottom of the street it was quiet at night. The location is superb but be prepared for a lot of steps … the street, like many in Dubrovnick old town, is very steep.
