Hotel Description

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Studio 87 on Gorica Svetog Vlaha, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard residential building in Lapad. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to shout about it from the street.

The thing about this spot is that it’s actually perfectly positioned if you understand how Dubrovnik works. Yeah, you’re not stumbling distance from the Old Town walls, but here’s the deal – you’re a pleasant 15-minute walk to all that tourist madness, which means you can escape back to this quiet residential street when you’ve had enough of the crowds. And trust me, after spending a day getting elbowed by cruise ship passengers on the Stradun, you’ll appreciate coming back to somewhere that feels… well, normal. The Lapad area has this laid-back vibe that locals love – there’s a decent beach nearby, some solid restaurants that don’t charge Old Town prices, and honestly, it just feels more like real Croatia.

What really impressed me about Studio 87 was how they’ve nailed the details that matter. The studios themselves are thoughtfully designed – not just thrown together like some places do. You’ve got proper kitchen setups (and I mean actually functional, not just a hot plate and a prayer), decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and air conditioning that works properly – which, let me tell you, is crucial during those sweltering July and August months. The staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay work, not just checking boxes. I had a late flight situation once and they were totally flexible about checkout, which saved me from wandering around with luggage for hours. That 9.6 rating isn’t just because people are being nice – it’s because they’re doing the fundamentals really well.

The street itself is quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open on cooler nights, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. There’s a small grocery store about two blocks away, and if you’re the type who likes to grab fresh bread in the morning, there’s a decent bakery that the locals actually use. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving – it’s street parking and spots fill up, but that’s pretty much everywhere in Dubrovnik that isn’t a resort charging you 30 euros a night for the privilege. The bus connections into the city center are solid, though honestly, the walk is nice enough that I usually just wandered on foot.

Look, Studio 87 isn’t going to wow you with fancy lobbies or pretentious amenities, but it gets the important stuff right. If you want somewhere clean, comfortable, and authentically Croatian without paying Old Town prices, this is your spot. It’s the kind of place where you can actually live for a few days rather than just crash between tourist activities.

Reviews

  • A lovely apartment in a nice quiet area of Dubrovnik. Would recommend to anyone planning a trip to stay here! – Maryclaire from Ireland – 3 July 2025 (10/10)

I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone planning a trip to Dubrovnik. Michael was a great host. Very friendly and helpful. The studio itself is located within walking distance of the old town, we walked most days but the option of the bus and a short taxi ride is also there too. The studio was very clean and modern and the views of the sea every morning were amazing.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Hidden gem – Neve from Australia – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

The property was immaculate with stunning ocean views. It was only a short 20 minute walk into the heart of old town, great location. Michael was very accommodating and had great communication.

What could be improved: The hot water didn’t last very long whilst showering.

  • A really lovely small apartment. – Robert from United Kingdom – 18 May 2025 (10/10)

A lovely small apartment. The owner was very helpful and adaptable to our late arrival and gave us some useful information. Very relaxing on the balcony overlooking the sea. Within walking distance of the old city but easy to get a bus back (uphill).

  • Simply the best place I’ve ever stayed! – William from Ireland – 7 May 2025 (10/10)

I can confidently say that Studio 87 was the highlight of my trip to Dubrovnik. The apartment is absolutely beautiful—modern, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. The sea view from the window is breathtaking and made every morning feel like a dream.

The location is fantastic! It’s in a peaceful area, yet still very convenient. You can reach the Old Town in about 20 minutes on foot, or take bus number 4 from a stop just two streets above the apartment. It was so easy to get around without any hassle.

The hosts were extremely kind and welcoming, making sure everything was perfect for our stay. They paid attention to every little detail, from the stylish decor to the well-equipped kitchen. I felt right at home the moment I walked in.

I’ve stayed in many places across Europe, but this one truly stands out. If you're visiting Dubrovnik, don’t hesitate—this is simply the best place to stay.

  • Love Dubrovnik and hope to come back someday. Loved the tranquility of Studio 87 as much as I loved the hustle and bustl – Gloria from United Kingdom – 30 August 2024 (10/10)

Studio 87 was spotlessly clean. It was modern and minimalist with air con. Lovely large balcony overlooking the sea. Perfect for sitting out on after an evening out with a glass of wine.
Quiet area but easy to get Ubers to go out.
Michael and Maria were prompt with replying to emails.
    Would recommend studio 87.
