Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Studio In on Žudioska Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you’re not trying too hard to impress anyone. This little spot sits right in the thick of Old Town, and I mean *right* in it – you’re basically living inside those famous limestone walls that everyone comes to Instagram.

The thing about Žudioska is that it’s one of those narrow streets that tourists usually rush through on their way to the main drag, but locals actually use it as a shortcut. So yeah, you’ll hear some foot traffic during the day, but honestly? It dies down completely once the cruise ship crowds head back to their boats around 5 PM. That’s when the real magic happens – suddenly you’ve got this medieval street almost to yourself, and the sound of your footsteps echoing off those ancient stones is pretty incredible. The studio itself is… well, it’s a studio, so don’t expect a sprawling suite, but they’ve actually done a decent job making the space feel bigger than it is. The stone walls aren’t just for show either – they keep things surprisingly cool even in July, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed.

What really sold me on this place was how *real* everything felt. The woman at check-in actually lives in Dubrovnik (not some imported hotel manager), and she’ll tell you things like which bakery opens earliest for fresh burek – it’s the one on Prijeko, by the way, and they start at 6 AM. You’re maybe a two-minute walk from Stradun, but far enough off it that you won’t be dealing with the street performers and tour groups until you actually want to. I mean, there’s something pretty special about having your morning coffee while watching the city wake up, then stepping out your door and being at the Rector’s Palace before the lines form. The 7.9 rating actually feels about right – it’s not trying to be the Hilton, but it delivers on what matters. The WiFi works (crucial for me), the shower has proper pressure, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without everything falling on the floor. Plus, and this is key, you can walk to literally everything worth seeing. The city walls entrance is right there, Onofrio’s Fountain is practically your neighbor, and when you inevitably get tired of tourist restaurants, some of the best local spots are hidden in the alleys nearby. Just don’t expect them to hold your hand – this is more of a “figure it out as you go” kind of place, which honestly made the whole experience feel more authentic.
