Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Dubrovnik, and Studio Paula honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you’re walking down Ulica Zlatni Potok (which translates to “Golden Stream Street,” how poetic is that?), you might almost miss it because it doesn’t scream “tourist hotel.” That’s actually part of its charm. The building has this understated elegance that feels more like you’re visiting a well-traveled friend’s carefully curated apartment than checking into another generic hotel.
The location is what really makes this place special, and I mean that in a way most travel sites won’t tell you. You’re in Ploče, which is technically part of Dubrovnik but feels like you’ve discovered this quieter pocket that locals actually use. There’s something refreshing about hearing Croatian conversations in the morning instead of just tour groups – though you’re still only about a 15-minute walk from the old town madness when you want it. The studios themselves live up to that 4-star rating without being stuffy about it. Mine had these lovely touches that someone clearly thought about – proper coffee setup (not those sad little packets), blackout curtains that actually work, and honestly, the bathroom was bigger than I expected. You know what I appreciated? The sound insulation is solid. Even during peak summer season, I could barely hear my neighbors, which if you’ve stayed in Croatian coastal towns, you know is not always guaranteed.
What strikes me most is how the staff seems to genuinely care about the details without being overly formal. They knew the neighborhood well enough to suggest this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM – perfect for those early morning walks before the heat kicks in. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you add up all these small things that work smoothly. Sure, it’s not beachfront (you’ll walk about 10 minutes to reach decent swimming spots), and the street can get a bit busy during rush hour, but honestly? I’d rather have easy access to real Dubrovnik life than be stuck in some isolated resort bubble. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re experiencing a place rather than just visiting it, Studio Paula gets that balance right. It’s polished enough that you feel taken care of, but authentic enough that you’re not constantly reminded you’re just another tourist passing through.

Property is very clean & newly renovated. It has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. It has wonderful views. Communication between owner/booking agent was excellent. Responded to messages very promptly. Luka met us at property & showed us everything & was extremely helpful. We had late flight & owner allowed us to keep luggage/ stay at property all day which was beyond kind as there was no booking due that day.
We would not hesitate to stay at property again! 10/10!
What could be improved: Nothing really. My husband & I are in mid sixties & are reasonably fit. We did not find walking up & down into old town a problem. Takes about 20/25 mins. If you were older you may want to use a cheap Uber taxi at around 5 euros. Walking down hill into town great , but there is a gradual incline uphill back to apartment.Sheldon from Netherlands – 21 October 2024 (9/10)
Maro was an excellent host. He gave us all the information on the day of arrival. Even though we were a couple of hours early he gave us the information on where we could store our luggage securely near the apartment till it was ready. The apartment itself was exceptional and spacious. you have lovely views of the Adriatic sea. You can also see Old town in the distance. The apartment has all the amenities and a well equipped kitchen. It is also about 15-20 mins walk to the old town with the Banje beach along the way. Dubrovnik being a hilly area this place is up a hill so be ready for the uphill climb back but so are all the places in Dubrovnik. We could do it daily but I can understand for slightly older travellers. Not to worry Uber is pretty cheap. The airport is around 25 mins away and the bus station is about 10 mins away.
What could be improved: Everthing was perfect.Alan from United Kingdom – 13 October 2024 (10/10)

Very friendly reception and precise instructions with pictures on how to find the right apartment. We got good tips for vacationing and answers to questions when we needed them.
The apartment was spacious, clean, and all surfaces were recently renovated with good taste. The air conditioning worked flawlessly and was efficient. The apartment would have had everything for even a longer stay. Good sound insulation for the corridor and outside.
Unbelievably wonderful view of the sea and the old town.
What could be improved: The balcony was a bit small.
In hot weather, walking to the old town and the nearest restaurants was difficult, even if the distance was less than 2 km. Lots of stairs to the apartment and hilly roads. Uber to the old town cost about 12 eur depending on the time, everything was very expencive in the city.
There is also no proper store nearby, a small kiosk for small grocery purchases was on the other side of the street.Donald from Czech Republic – 14 August 2024 (10/10)
Perfect location to walk to the old town, spectacular view. Our host Mao was fantastic in providing us guidance and support in planning our trip schedules !!

Bedrooms were spacious and property lovely. Convenient to have washer in the property. Beautiful beach walking distance (10 min) to the property, our preferred beach in the area! Would definitely stay here again!

The facility is located in the middle of 2 beautiful beaches. So you can use both beaches. We stayed within walking distance of the Old Town. You don’t have to climb too many stairs to reach the house. The owner’s communication was also extremely fast, nice and clear. Everything you might need at home has been considered. He also arranged a transfer for us to the airport (it was cheaper than going by taxi) Everything was great 🙂
