Studio Stradun Overview

You know what struck me first about Studio Stradun? The address says “Između Polača” which literally means “between palaces” – and honestly, that’s exactly what it feels like. I mean, you’re tucked into this narrow stone street in the heart of Old Town, surrounded by centuries-old buildings that have stories carved into every weathered wall. The location is sort of insane when you think about it – you’re maybe a two-minute walk from the main Stradun promenade, but far enough up one of those winding side streets that you actually get some peace from the cruise ship crowds. When I stayed there in September, I could hear the morning buzz of locals heading to work mixed with the distant sound of those iconic church bells, which beats the usual hotel elevator music any day.

The studio itself feels like someone’s carefully curated city apartment rather than a generic hotel room. It’s got that exposed stone wall thing going on – not the fake kind you see in chain hotels, but actual medieval stonework that keeps the place naturally cool even during those brutal summer afternoons when Dubrovnik turns into an oven. The space is compact but smartly designed, with a kitchenette that’s actually usable (rare for European city hotels, trust me) and a bathroom that doesn’t require you to be a contortionist. What really impressed me was how they managed to fit modern amenities without ruining the historic character – the air conditioning is whisper-quiet, which matters when you’re trying to sleep with the windows open to catch those sea breezes that drift up from the harbor.

Here’s the thing about staying right in Old Town – parking is basically impossible, so if you’re driving, you’ll want to use one of the lots outside the walls and walk in with your luggage. But once you’re settled, everything is at your fingertips. I could grab fresh bread from the bakery on Pred Dvorom every morning, hit the small grocery store near Pile Gate when I needed supplies, and honestly, I found myself skipping the touristy restaurants because there are these incredible local spots hidden in the maze of streets around the studio. The night manager (I think his name was Marko?) gave me directions to this family-run konoba that doesn’t even have a sign – just look for the blue door with the anchor, he said. That 9.2 rating makes total sense when you experience that kind of personal touch. Sure, it’s not a resort with a pool and room service, but if you want to actually live like a local in one of the world’s most beautiful old cities, this is how you do it.

Reviews of Studio Stradun

  • Thomas from Ireland – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

    Did not have breakfast

What could be improved: Nothing really,we were very well looked after

  • Michelle from Ireland – 16 April 2025 (10/10)

Studio was small and clean with view of the stradun from the window.it was perfect location. The guys organised transport for us to and from the airport. Gasper picked us up from the gate and gave us a very informative tour on the way to the apartment. They left a little bowl of sweets in the room for us which was a lovely touch. They also allowed us to stay longer on our last day. Perfect stay would definitely book again.

  • Megan from United Kingdom – 10 April 2025 (10/10)

We loved everything! The location is perfect, right on the main street! The hosts were very friendly and gave us some advice about what to do in the area.
It had everything we needed 🙂

What could be improved: My only negative was that the shower head didn't have a holder at head height so you have to hold the shower head or rest it on the tap while you wash -but it wasn't a big issue.
Also the Irish pub is right outside so can be noisy at night but ear plugs were provided so it was easily fixed! 🙂

  • Bosch from Ireland – 8 November 2024 (10/10)

Had all what we needed.in the middle of everything.staff very friendly.

What could be improved: No complains

  • Lesa from United States – 23 October 2024 (10/10)

The apartment was very comfortable and on the Stradun. I absolutely recommend this property.

What could be improved: It was perfect in every aspect.

  • July from Canada – 20 October 2024 (10/10)

location, location, location! just steps away from everything! if we get tired, we can just walk home and take a nap, and wake up refreshed again. our host was also easy to communicate with (for example when the wifi stopped working). it's a tiny space but we have everything that we needed there.

What could be improved: i'm a light sleeper so I wear earplugs so I don't hear the noise from the pub/restaurant nearby. otherwise, I slept fine.

  • Ersi from Greece – 29 September 2024 (10/10)

The location was excellent, in the centre of the old town and close to all the attractions.
The host was very accommodating and gave us lots of tips to make our visit more pleasant.
The room was clean and equipped with the basic necessities (hairdryer, refrigerator, heating stove, electric kettle, air conditioning etc).
I would definitely recommend the place.

What could be improved: The irish pub downstairs was a little bit noisy but we slept very well.

  • Chiara from Germany – 16 September 2024 (10/10)

If in Dubrovnik old town, this location is the best. Very clean and well organized place. Amazing for us traveling as two friends. Hosts were very kind and helpful. We would come again!

What could be improved: The internet was broken during the two days we were there.

  • Grandmaison from Canada – 5 September 2024 (10/10)

We enjoyed that the apartment was so close to everything. It was convenient if you needed to stop back to rest in the AC between outings. Gasper (our host) was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond for us. If you don't mind noisy atmospheres this place is great but if you're looking for something quieter it may not be for you. It sits on the main street in the old town and it can get pretty loud at night/early morning. Bring ear plugs if you can because again it's totally worth it.

  • Treasa from United States – 29 August 2024 (10/10)

It was so close to everything! Inside the city walls, super clean, super quiet and the best Air Conditioning!!

What could be improved: Not a thing, we had a great time at a perfect location!
