Hotel Description
So I stayed at Sun Apartment on Zagrebačka Ulica last month, and honestly? It’s one of those places that just gets it right. You know how some hotels feel like they’re trying too hard to impress you with fancy marble lobbies and whatnot – this isn’t that. It’s actually an apartment-style setup in this lovely residential building, and the moment you walk in, it feels like you’re staying at a friend’s place who happens to have really good taste.
The location is what really sold me though. Zagrebačka Ulica is this quiet street that runs parallel to the main tourist drag, so you’re literally a three-minute walk from all the Old Town madness but you can actually sleep at night. I mean, during peak season in July, you’ll hear some distant chatter from the restaurants nearby, but nothing crazy. The apartment itself has these gorgeous high ceilings – must be at least 12 feet – and the windows are huge, which is perfect because the morning light just floods in. The owner (I think her name was Marija?) has clearly put thought into the details… there’s this beautiful old wooden dining table that looks like it’s been in someone’s family for decades, and the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab some fresh fish from the market near Pile Gate.
What I loved most was how it felt authentically Dubrovnik without being kitschy. The stone walls are original – you can tell because they’re slightly uneven in that charming way old buildings are – and there’s this small balcony that overlooks the neighborhood where you can have your morning coffee and watch the locals heading to work. Parking was surprisingly easy too; there’s a spot right behind the building that comes with the apartment, which honestly saved me about 20 euros a day compared to the tourist lots. The walk to the city walls takes maybe five minutes if you’re moving slowly, and you’ll pass this little bakery called Dubrovačka Pekara that makes these incredible burek pastries – definitely worth the slight detour. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend letting them know your arrival time because it’s not like a hotel with 24-hour reception. The WiFi was solid, the shower had great pressure (not always a given in these old buildings), and the whole place just felt clean and well-maintained. If you’re looking for something that feels more like living in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it, Sun Apartment really delivers on that promise.

The location near the old city was great, and we loved having meals on the upstairs patio.
What could be improved: Nothing to report.Great Location – Carla from United States – 12 September 2023 (10/10)
I wish we could stay longer at this apartment and in Dubrovnik. The place was at a good location and the apartment was spacious and good for family or group of 5.
Really enjoyed the perfect location – Laura from Ireland – 3 September 2023 (8/10)
Really enjoyed the one night stay, great location only 5m walking to the Old Town, didn’t use the kitchen etc but it looked well stocked! The beds were comfy and view was beautiful – easy to get in. Definitely worth the stay
What could be improved: Nothing!Disappointing – Simona from Romania – 6 August 2024 (3/10)
location
What could be improved: Bad smell, not clean( you could see dirty hands prints on furniture and feel the dirty floor). The host replied slow and too late about our inqueries. Big problems with parking!! Other hosts in the same building arrange parking lot for their guests but it wasn't the case for this host.Superb – Christelle from France – 23 June 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: L appartement très bien équipée
– Eduardo from Spain – 27 April 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: Nada en especial, un poco ruidoso por estar junto a una calleSuperb – Helene from France – 2 November 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: Absence de wifi, absence de produit de toiletteSuperb – Dominika from Poland – 10 June 2024 (9/10)
Lokalizacja- blisko do starówki. Wygodna kuchnia. Na plus taras ze stołem i krzesłami. Apartament dobrze utrzymany i optymalny dla 5 osób – dwa łóżka małżeńskie. W bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie piekarnia i sklep z możliwością kupienia kawy na wynos. Bardzo dobry kontakt z gospodarzem, żadnych problemów. Polecam.
Exceptional – Maria from Poland – 6 June 2024 (10/10)
Cudowne miejsce, wszędzie bardzo blisko, stare miasto, plaże. Doskonały kontakt z właścicielką. Idealne na city break. Kilka kroków do piekarni, małego marketu. Szczerze polecam 👍
