Tara Apartments Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked up to Tara Apartments on Generala Janka Bobetka street, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a property without an official star rating. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that let their location and character do the talking instead of fancy classifications. The building sits in one of those perfect Dubrovnik spots where you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the cruise ship crowds to actually breathe.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s the thing about staying in Dubrovnik — location is everything, and Tara Apartments nailed it. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot 8.7 out of 10, and after spending time here, I get why. You’re within walking distance of the Old Town walls without being right in the thick of the tourist chaos. The neighborhood has that authentic Croatian feel where you’ll see locals going about their day, not just souvenir shops and overpriced cafes. There’s actually a decent grocery store nearby, which saved me quite a bit on breakfast and snacks.

The Apartment Experience

What struck me most about my apartment was how thoughtfully it was set up — this isn’t just a hotel room with a mini-fridge thrown in the corner. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to prepare simple meals, and honestly, after a few days of restaurant prices in Dubrovnik, you’ll appreciate having that option. The space feels lived-in rather than sterile, with local touches that remind you you’re in Croatia, not some generic international chain. The Wi-Fi worked reliably, which I mention because it’s not always a given in older buildings around here.

Getting Around and Practical Stuff

One thing I really appreciated was how easy it was to navigate from here. The bus connections to different parts of Dubrovnik are straightforward, and if you’re renting a car, parking in this area isn’t the nightmare it can be closer to the Old Town. I walked to the city walls most mornings, and it took maybe 15 minutes at a comfortable pace — perfect for working up an appetite before exploring. The nearby streets have a few local spots where you can grab coffee and pastries without paying tourist prices, which honestly made my mornings so much better.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Tara Apartments isn’t trying to be something it’s not. There’s no fancy lobby or concierge service, but what you get is a genuine base in Dubrovnik that feels more like staying in a local neighborhood than a tourist bubble. The 8.9 guest rating reflects what I experienced — solid accommodations in a spot that locals would actually choose to live. If you’re the type of traveler who values authentic location over hotel amenities, and you want to experience Dubrovnik without feeling like you’re constantly surrounded by tour groups, this place makes a lot of sense. Plus, the value for money in a city where accommodation costs can get pretty steep is honestly refreshing.

Booked at last minute has a overnight stay in Dubrovnik,Mario comminicated very well, the apartment was outstanding for the price if we find ourselves in Croatia again i would certainly check the availability on this marvelous apartment

What could be improved: No TV Ariel

  • Very good – Georgi from Bulgaria – 9 September 2024 (8/10)

    1. The location was good.
    2. Easy access by car.
    3. Very nice host.
    4. The room was nice and clean.
    5. There was a garage reserved for us.

What could be improved: 1. The terrace was shared with other apartment(s) and there were people walking right in front of the window.
    2. There is a construction site next to the property and they made incredible noise as early as 8am.

  • The room has the comfort you need and the host was very friendly. – Jonas from Belgium – 8 September 2024 (10/10)

The room has all the comfort you need. The host was very friendly, we asked him if we could leave the car in the garage another day after we did the check out, he accepted (there were no guests with a car after us)! The private parking was a big plus for us because we could park our rental car safe for 3 days.

  • Comfortable – Lauren from Ireland – 4 September 2024 (9/10)

•Mario was a great host. He gave loads of suggestions for our time and was so kind and welcoming. A lovely man.
•It was a very quiet apartment. Even though we were close to the road and more noisy cars could be very slightly heard it was generally very quiet and peaceful. We slept great- the mattress was very comfortable and in the studio with citations separating from the kitchen it gave a blackout effect.
•Kitchen facilities were brilliant, there was everything you would need to cook dinner. Even washing up liquid. We cooked a lot due to how expensive it is to eat out.
•Outdoor seating area is lovely. Although shared we had the large seating area outside our kitchen and it felt comfortable and private.
•Being directly across from a studenac supermarket massive advantage.

What could be improved: •We were slightly far away from beaches aswell as the old town (30-35 min walk). Although Bellevue beach was 20 minutes away. However I feel Dubrovnik is just a place where things are quite spread out. We used Uber which was €7 a trip which was quite expensive but that was due to our own inability to figure out the bus schedules. Also suchhh a safe area. Felt so safe the whole time.

  • Exceptional – Samanta from Ireland – 12 July 2024 (10/10)

We loved that there was so much space, and easy access to the garden which was beautiful.
Mario was so attentive, he catered to every need and was fantastic with recommendations to gorgeous food places and activities, overall a really enjoyable stay.

  • One of the best hosts I’ve come across, extremely kind and helpful. Clean property, grocery store right in front of the – Chetali from India – 30 August 2023 (8/10)
