Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be straight with you about The Point Room – it’s one of those places that grows on you, especially if you know what you’re getting into. First time I walked up to Ulica Ivana Mane Jarnovića (honestly, just tell your taxi driver “Lapad peninsula near the hotels”), I wasn’t blown away by the exterior, but that’s actually part of its charm. It sits quietly in this residential stretch where you can hear actual Croatian conversations drifting from apartment balconies, not just tourist chatter.

The thing about staying here is you’re getting the real Lapad experience – and I mean that in the best way. You know those mornings when you want decent coffee without fighting crowds? There’s this little café about two minutes’ walk where the owner, Marko, makes the kind of espresso that’ll wake you up properly. The beach situation is pretty sweet too; Lapad Bay is maybe a seven-minute stroll, and while everyone’s cramming onto the main stretch, there’s this rocky bit to the left where locals actually swim. The water’s clearer there anyway.

What surprised me most was how quiet it gets at night – I mean, you’re still close enough to hear the occasional bus on the main road, but it’s not that constant city hum you get in Old Town. The rooms themselves are, well, they’re solid three-star territory. Nothing fancy, but the AC works (crucial in July, trust me), and the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve stayed. The shower pressure’s actually decent, which honestly matters more than fancy marble when you’ve been walking Dubrovnik’s stone streets all day. I will say the walls are a bit thin – you might hear your neighbors if they’re having a loud phone call, but it’s not deal-breaking.

Here’s what really sold me on the place: the staff actually knows the area. When I asked about getting to Cavtat without joining a tour group, the guy at reception drew me a little map showing exactly where to catch the local bus – saved me probably 30 euros and gave me a much better day trip. Plus, if you’re planning to explore beyond the obvious tourist spots, you’re positioned perfectly. That whole Lapad peninsula has these walking paths through pine forests that most visitors never discover, and you can reach them without dealing with Old Town’s summer crowds.

The 7.3 rating makes sense – it’s not going to wow you with luxury, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re exploring Croatia. Good base, reasonable price, and you’ll sleep well enough to tackle another day of climbing those medieval walls. Just don’t expect a pool or room service – this is more about location and value than amenities.
