The Pucic Palace Overview

You know what struck me first about the Pucic Palace? It’s tucked right on Ulica od Puca – which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is – and when you walk up, you realize this isn’t just some converted building trying to be fancy. This place actually was a 17th-century palace, and somehow they’ve managed to keep that authentic baroque feel without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum.

The location is pretty incredible if you’re the type who wants to be right in the thick of Old Town. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Rector’s Palace and that whole historic district, but here’s the thing – being on a side street means you’re not dealing with the main tourist crush that hits Stradun during peak season. You can actually hear the cathedral bells in the morning, which sounds cheesy but is genuinely lovely. The rooms themselves have this interesting mix of period details – we’re talking original stone walls and frescoed ceilings – paired with modern touches that actually work. The bathrooms are particularly well done, which matters more than people admit when you’re paying five-star prices.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how the staff seems to genuinely know Dubrovnik. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but they pointed us toward this little konoba tucked away near the city walls that we never would have found otherwise. The concierge – I think his name was Marko – actually grew up in the area and had these insights about timing your wall walk to avoid crowds and which entrance to use. Check-in was smooth, no weird holds or complications, and they sorted out restaurant reservations without that fake enthusiasm you get at some places. The only minor thing I’d mention is that parking isn’t on-site – you’ll need to use the public garage about a five-minute walk away, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for Old Town. Overall, if you want to stay somewhere that feels authentically Dubrovnik rather than just generically luxurious, and you don’t mind paying for the privilege, this place delivers. It’s the kind of spot where you feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just visiting it.

This hotel is in a perfect spot in the old town. Close to everything. We had the family room which was 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Tons of space. Staff were amazing and helpful. Hotel met us at town gate and walked us to the hotel. Much easier the first day. Breakfast was a gormet affair on an outside patio. old town could be a little loud in the evening but this was true in all old town. The hotel service, cleaning, security and location top notch.

What could be improved: it was a little pricey

Hotel Pucic OOZES Charm and is in the best possible location in the old town. The free breakfast (available in the winter) was amazing. The staff was very attentive, even helping me solve several travelers problems. Room and bathroom are both big with high ceilings. They provided both central air and a space heater so I was very comfortable.

The location of the hotel changed an incredible experience into an unforgettable one.
Bells serenaded us in the morning and we were only a few minutes walk from both main gates.
The staff felt like friends from the start and did everything humanly possible to help us.
    Amazing people. Fabulous place.
