Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about The Ragusa Arms? It’s tucked away on this tiny street called Lučarica – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the entrance. But that’s actually perfect because you’re literally inside Dubrovnik’s Old Town walls without dealing with the chaos of Stradun (the main drag where all the cruise ship crowds funnel through). I mean, you can hear the morning delivery trucks rumbling over those ancient stones around 7 AM, but it’s more charming than annoying – sort of like having your own private soundtrack of medieval city life.

The building itself has this weathered limestone facade that’s probably been standing since before America was even discovered, and they’ve done a really thoughtful job renovating it. The rooms have these thick stone walls that keep everything cool during those brutal July afternoons when the temperature hits 35°C and the city feels like an oven. What I really appreciated was how they managed to fit modern bathrooms without destroying the character – you’ll still find original wooden beams and stone details, but the shower pressure is actually decent (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in historic properties). The air conditioning works well too, though the units are a bit noisy, so you might want to turn it off at night if you’re a light sleeper.

Location-wise, this place is pretty much perfect if you want to experience Old Town without feeling like you’re living in a tourist trap. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Rector’s Palace and the main square, but when you duck back to your hotel in the evening, you actually get some peace and quiet. The little bakery on Prijeko Street – that’s the parallel street one block over – opens at 6 AM if you want fresh burek before the crowds arrive. And here’s something most visitors don’t realize: the city walls entrance at Pile Gate gets absolutely mobbed after 10 AM, but you can walk there in five minutes and beat the rush. The staff seemed to really know their stuff too – they steered me toward this tiny konoba (that’s a traditional tavern) down near the harbor that I never would have found otherwise. Parking is going to be your biggest headache, but that’s true anywhere in the Old Town – they’ll tell you about the lot near Pile Gate, though it fills up fast during summer. Honestly, if you’re staying here, just embrace walking everywhere. That’s half the magic of Dubrovnik anyway.

  • Irene from Singapore – 9 August 2024 (9/10)

Good location in the old town. Take airport shutter bus cost 10€ to old town and alight at Ploce gate, which is 30min and it is the 1st stop. Walking to the apt just take you abot 5mins. The apt gpod space for our group size of 4, it was clean, homely. Bed is comfortable. Owner was quick to response. Encountered no hot water on 1st night but it was quick to resolved. Apartment is fully aircondition. Will strongly recommend this apt.

What could be improved: The floor will get so wet after each shower due no proper shower screen. position of the shower head make it difficult to enjoy your shower. Will be nice to provide hand towel in the kitchen, toilet n shower room.

The location in the heart of old town Dubrovnik cannot be beat! From the moment we entered the city walls we were mesmerized by the history and beauty of this place. We could eat and play and see so many wonderful sites right outside the doors of this apartment without ever needing transportation. We appreciated the second bathroom as we were parents traveling with a college age daughter. Also, the washing machine was great to have for extended travel. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • Lia from South Korea – 14 May 2024 (10/10)

Great location that was so perfect. Neat house. The accommodation was just like the photos and description. Friendly reception staff. I recommend it.

  • Nat from Ireland – 6 April 2024 (9/10)

Comfortable for family of six, 2 bathrooms a big advantage. No distance at all to anything in the Old Town, 30 second walk to a grocery store, fresh veg market, bakery and so on.

What could be improved: Just a note: directly over a fully utilized restaurant patio (restaurant open till midnight) – felt like we were in the restaurant in the evenings when we had the windows open. Not recommended for light sleepers, but if you're used to town noise, it's fine.

  • Melissa from United States – 29 May 2023 (9/10)

The location could not be beat. It’s in the heart of the pedestrian area. (Although the entry is a bit funky because the outside door is in the outside seating area of Marco Polo restaurant.) The host was very responsive. The apartment is large, clean, and well equipped. There are also 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a washer and dryer. My biggest regrets is not staying longer. We stayed 2 nights and got in so late that we only had one day there. In hindsight, I would have booked another night here.

What could be improved: The key is in a separate location. We arrived at almost midnight and didn’t have internet or phone service. I also didn’t get the check in information until after I already left my house and was on planes/in airports etc… so I didn’t have anything printed out about it. I should have read the info more carefully but it’s hard when you’re traveling. It would have been nice to have gotten the information before leaving home and also to have the key box at the apartment location. We figured it out after getting the GPS on my moms phone to work and entering the address on the screen shots I took of the instructions.

  • Natalia from Spain – 10 August 2022 (9/10)

Location was perfect. Well decorated with new and modern furniture.

What could be improved: As it is in the middle of the town it can get a bit noisy at night.
They offered us a place to leave the luggage on the leaving day but when we got there there was no more space for our luggage so we had to change our plans.

  • Renata from South Africa – 10 July 2024 (10/10)

The agency, Dominattio, was great. Harry helped us with check in and stored our luggage until we could check in.

  • Anonymous from Australia – 10 October 2023 (10/10)

Property was a great location. Lovely and clean apartment, perfect for our family.

  • Claudia from Chile – 29 September 2023 (10/10)
