Look, I’ll be straight with you about The Room – it’s one of those places that completely caught me off guard in the best possible way. When I first walked up to 2a Ulica Zlatni Potok in Ploče, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. I mean, you know how it is with hotel ratings sometimes. But this little gem sits in this quiet residential pocket of Dubrovnik that most tourists never even discover, and that’s actually its biggest selling point.

The thing about staying here is that you’re genuinely living like a local for a few days. Ploče isn’t where the cruise ship crowds end up – it’s where real Dubrovnik happens. I’d walk out in the morning and there’s this bakery just around the corner where the owner remembered my coffee order by day three (strong Turkish coffee, if you’re wondering). The Old Town is maybe a 15-minute walk downhill, which sounds far until you realize you’re escaping back to this peaceful neighborhood every evening while everyone else is fighting for overpriced drinks in Stradun. The walk back up is… well, it’s a workout, I won’t lie. But there’s something satisfying about earning your rest after a day of sightseeing.

What really got me about The Room was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between intimate and professional. The building itself has this understated Croatian charm – you know, stone and wood details that feel authentic rather than trying too hard. My room had this little balcony where I could actually hear the Adriatic in the distance on quiet mornings, mixed with the sounds of the neighborhood waking up. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure I knew the good local spots (there’s this family-run konoba about ten minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise). Check-in was smooth, parking was sorted without drama, and honestly, the whole experience felt more like staying with knowledgeable friends than at a hotel. That 8.8 rating makes total sense when you experience the place – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it absolutely delivers on being memorable and genuinely helpful. If you want to experience Dubrovnik beyond the postcard version, this is exactly where you want to be.

  The Room is a perfect place if you travel alone or in a pair. It has everything: spacious, clean, nice view, and good location. The host Mara is a lovely person, always accessible and ready to help.

  Lovely place with a small kitchen. The bed is comfortable and you have a nice view from the window. The host is always available if you need anything- I got really good restaurant recommendations!
  It's a nice & easy walk to the old town, as you can enjoy the views, but the walk back is a bit harder as it's slightly uphill (and can feel long after a day of sightseeing) but there's a bus or you can take an uber.

  The place was very clean and tidy, has everything you need, super comfortable, good water pressure and great location, 15 mins walk from the old town or a 5 mins walk to the nearest bus stop where you can take the bus n 8 down to the old town.
  Mara’s very thoughtful and responded to messages quickly.

The room is located in walking distance from two best beaches in Dubrovnik. Amazing customer service from the owner. Very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended to everyone.

  Room was a small, but cozy and romantic. It's good for a few days stay to explore Dubrovnik. Walk to old town was 20 mins down a slight hill, walking up the hill not too bad. St. Jakov beach is close and I recommend it for the great views of the fortress + not as busy as majn Dubrovnik beach

  Very clean and comfortable, lovely sea view. Hosts kept in touch and were very welcoming and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Although it’s only 20 mins walk from the Old Town it feels like a long way back when you have been walking all day and it’s slightly up hill. It doesn’t cost much in an Uber though – about €4.
