You know what struck me first about The Saint Blaise? It’s tucked away on this tiny street called Zeljarica ulica that most tourists walk right past – I mean, unless you’re specifically looking for it, you’d never stumble across the place. But that’s actually perfect because you’re literally a two-minute walk from the main Stradun without dealing with the crowds that camp out right on the main drag. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels more like a well-kept secret than a typical hotel trying to impress everyone walking by.

The whole setup here is honestly pretty smart. They’ve got this boutique thing down – only a handful of rooms, so you’re not fighting for the elevator or waiting forever at reception. When I checked in, the staff actually remembered my name throughout the stay (not just the fake-friendly “let me check your keycard” routine you get at bigger places). The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy – good linens, proper blackout curtains that actually work, and bathrooms with decent water pressure, which you can’t take for granted in Old Town buildings. The air conditioning is solid too, which you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting during those sweltering July and August months when Dubrovnik turns into an oven.

What really makes this place work is the location knowledge the staff has. They steered me toward this little bakery on Prijeko Street that opens at 6 AM – perfect for grabbing something before the city walls get packed with tour groups. And honestly, being able to walk to everything but still retreat to a quiet street when the Old Town gets overwhelming (which it does, especially during cruise ship days) is worth the premium. The nearby restaurants aren’t the tourist traps you’ll find closer to the main square either. I found myself using the hotel as a base to duck in and out of – grab some water, drop off shopping bags, escape the midday heat. Street parking is basically impossible around here, but they’ll sort out arrangements if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re settled. The morning sounds are just church bells and the occasional delivery truck, not the constant buzz of people and street vendors that you get on the main thoroughfares. With a 9.3 rating, you’re obviously paying for quality, but it’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it.

  It was a great stay, the location couldn't be better. The apartment had everything we needed. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

  The location was perfect and the apartment well appointed. Good shower and well equipped kitchen. Lovely views over the Old Town. Everything was a few minutes walk away and local restaurants were excellent. We will certainly be coming back.
  
  What could be improved: Being 6’2’ the ceiling height and the narrowness of the stairs was a slight problem, but not serious. The shower cubicle leaked due to a torn sealing strip at the bottom which needs replacing.

  Great central location off the main square/street of Dubrovnik old town. We didn’t hear any noise despite being right in the centre of everything. Apartment is over 2 floors, beautifully decorated and clean with AC which was a godsend. It is up several flights of stairs which we were absolutely fine with but maybe not for those less mobile? Great clear directions for self check in which if followed carefully make gaining access a breeze (we were delayed and arrived after midnight).

  Unit we were given was a GREAT location in center of Old (walled) City, but on a side street, so quiet at night. Unit was newly renovated, very attractive and comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: Only minor quibble is that because the unit was “brand new” – an appliance – the mini fridge had not been checked out. Its motor was noisier than a helicopter’s. We had to turn it off

  Super location! The apartment was small but had everything! A well equipped kitchenette, too. A grocery store was just around the corner!
  
  What could be improved: I had no problem with the stairs, but someone less mobile and with lots of luggage may find the walk up to the apartment difficult.
