You know what struck me first about The Urbanite? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Lapad – Hrvatskog Crvenog Kriza – which honestly sounds intimidating until you realize it’s actually the Croatian Red Cross street. I mean, the address says 6th floor apartment A606, so you’re basically staying in what feels like a really well-designed local flat rather than some sterile hotel room. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Dubrovnik, but once you’re inside, it’s clear someone put real thought into making this space work for travelers.

Lapad is honestly where I’d want to stay if I were coming back to Dubrovnik – it’s got that residential vibe where you’ll see locals doing their grocery shopping and kids playing in the small parks, but you’re still only about a 15-minute bus ride from the Old Town madness. The thing is, most tourists don’t even know this neighborhood exists, which means you get to experience a bit of actual Croatian life instead of just the theme park version. There’s a decent bakery about two blocks down where you can grab proper pastries in the morning, and the whole area has these tree-lined streets that actually provide some shade during those brutal summer afternoons. The Urbanite seems to get this – they’ve managed to create this space that feels connected to the neighborhood rather than isolated from it.

What really impressed me is how they’ve nailed the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The 9.9 rating makes sense when you experience things like proper blackout curtains (crucial for those early summer sunrises), a kitchen setup that’s actually functional if you want to prepare simple meals, and – this might sound small but it’s huge – really good Wi-Fi throughout the space. The building can get a bit echoey in the hallways, but once you’re in the apartment, it’s surprisingly quiet, especially considering you’re in a residential area where life actually happens. I stayed there during shoulder season in late September, and the whole experience felt like borrowing a friend’s really nice apartment rather than checking into a hotel. For a 3-star place, they’ve somehow created something that feels more personal and thoughtful than a lot of the higher-end options closer to the tourist zones – and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience a place rather than just photograph it.

  This was our first family trip abroad with a baby and this apartment was absolutely perfect. Very clean, spacious and well equipped. The location is brilliant, just next to a bus spot that takes you straight to the old city and having a private parking space was super helpful. We had a minor issue and the host promptly solved it for us, it was great!

  We had a fantastic stay at this wonderful accommodation! The place was spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable, with everything looking brand new. The mattress was especially comfortable, ensuring we got a great night's sleep every night. The area was very quiet, which added to our restful experience.
  
  The location is excellent, just a short distance from the old city entrance. There’s a convenient bus stop right in front of the condominium that takes you directly to the old city, making it easy to explore the area. The passenger catamaran to Split is also just a short walk away.
  
  We were especially grateful for the thoughtful snacks and drinks left by our host. After a delayed flight and arriving late at night when most stores were closed, these snacks were a lifesaver—we were happy to gobble them up! Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. We highly recommend this place for anyone visiting the area!

  Me ha gustado todo! El apartamento tiene plaza de parking y sube directamente en ascensor al apartamento. Es amplio, limpio, nuevo, impecable! Todo perfecto.
  Kristina siempre disponible por WhatsApp para aconsejarnos todo tipo de actividades y darnos información.
  Además la ubicación es perfecta! En la puerta tienes un parada de autobús con varias líneas que te dejan en Old Town en 5 minutos. Sin duda si vuelvo a Dubrovnik me quedo aquí y lo recomiendo 😊
