Valamar Lacroma Hotel Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? The Valamar Lacroma surprised me. It’s perched on this little peninsula called Babin Kuk – which, okay, sounds weird but it’s actually this quiet residential area about 15 minutes from the Old Town madness. You know what I mean if you’ve ever tried to sleep near Stradun during peak season.
The thing about this place is it feels like someone actually thought about what travelers need. The rooms are spacious (not those shoebox situations you get in the historic center), and most have these massive balconies overlooking Lapad Bay. I mean, you’re literally watching the sunset paint the Adriatic while sipping wine – it’s almost unfairly beautiful. The hotel itself has this modern-meets-Mediterranean vibe going on, all clean lines and local stone, but without feeling sterile. There’s a decent-sized pool area that doesn’t get completely overrun, probably because most guests are off exploring or down at the little pebble beach that’s basically right there.
What really sold me though was the location’s practicality. Yeah, you’re not stumbling back to your room after dinner in Dubrovnik’s Old Town – you’ll need to catch a taxi or use the hotel shuttle (which runs pretty regularly, actually). But here’s the thing: you’re also not paying Old Town prices for everything, and you can actually park without selling a kidney. The Lapad promenade is maybe a 10-minute walk, and that’s where locals actually hang out – proper restaurants, cafes where you won’t get tourist-trapped, plus a pharmacy and little shops if you need anything. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions, and they had solid recommendations for restaurants we never would’ve found otherwise. Is it perfect? Well, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some rooms, and if you’re the type who needs to be in the thick of everything every second, the location might feel a bit removed. But honestly, after a day of fighting crowds at the city walls and Rector’s Palace, coming back to this peaceful spot felt like exactly what a vacation should be.

Amazing
I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Valamar Lacroma Hotel to celebrate my 40th birthday, and it was truly an unforgettable experience!
From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel so welcomed. I was gifted with a lovely bottle of wine on my birthday, and received a thoughtful 10% discount for dinner at their sister hotel’s restaurant such a kind gesture that made my celebration even more memorable.
The concierge team were simply outstanding ,especially Igor and Dorotea, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The front desk staff, including Marin, Ana and others, were incredibly friendly, professional and always happy to help.
The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and spotlessly maintained. The grounds are beautifully looked after, and the entire property gives off a sense of calm and care.
As someone who loves a bit of pampering, I was blown away by the spa it’s beautifully designed and such a relaxing space. I’m a huge fan of Rituals skincare products, so I was thrilled to see them featured both in the spa and in room amenities a luxurious touch that didn’t go unnoticed!
To top it all off, I was treated to some of the most breathtaking sunset views ,a magical way to end each day. And the buffet breakfast and dinner were fantastic, offering a wide variety of delicious and high-quality options.
Valamar Lacroma exceeded my expectations in every way from the service to the setting and made my 40th birthday truly special. I can’t wait to return!
What could be improved: We paid for half board , only to be told drinks even water wasn’t included at dinner you need to pay for water, which was very strangeJahanara from United Kingdom – 18 May 2025 (9/10)
The hotel was super clean. The staff were very friendly, everyone had smiles and was always helpful. We only stayed for 3 nights but will definitely be back for longer. Views from the hotel is superb and the access to their 5* hotel was a bonus.

The room was kindly upgraded when we arrived having a sea view and balcony. The room and bathroom was clean and it came with coffee/tea service and wine cellar. The breakfast and dinner were buffet style and there were a variety of food and choices. The service was included to access to the swimming pool both outside and inside, as well as Moro World, the play ground facility for kids. There is the bus stop 2 min walk from the hotel taking directly to the Old Town. The stay was comfortable and it worths more than the price (we stayed in May).
What could be improved: The small fridge wasn't cold at all to keep things cool. The glass next to the shower leaked a lot of water and it made a big puddle after the shower. We notified the reception about the leakage and the next day the plumber came to check the situation to fix it. We stayed 3 nights and everyday the room cleaner came to take away the used bath towels but they didn't replace the new towels so we had to ask for the new ones every time.Magda from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (9/10)
Very specious with lots of options to actively spend time.

Kevin from Kuwait – 6 May 2025 (9/10)
The breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety to choose from, and the staff were always there around to assist, the room was great having a sea facing view was refreshing and pretty sight early morning, with the sea gulls and sparrows around, was just an amazing view, and view of the calm sea was just great
What could be improved: Nothing to really complain about, we were on a conference visit, and after the meet we had functions to attend to, nothing to complain about
