Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Vemar Apartment? The fact that I actually found parking without circling the block fifteen times – which, if you’ve ever driven in Dubrovnik, you’ll understand is basically a miracle. The private parking situation here is honestly worth its weight in gold, especially in Lapad where street parking can turn into a full-contact sport during summer months.

The apartment itself sits on Mata Vodopića, which is one of those quiet residential streets that locals love but tourists rarely stumble upon by accident. I mean, you’re still close enough to hear the gentle hum of the main Lapad promenade, but far enough away that you won’t have groups of sunburned travelers debating dinner plans under your window at midnight. The building has that classic Dubrovnik charm – white stone that catches the morning light just right, with these lovely green shutters that actually work (small detail, but you’d be surprised how many places have decorative shutters that are painted shut).

What really won me over was the walk to the beach – it’s genuinely about four minutes if you’re not rushing, maybe six if you stop to grab coffee from that little café on the corner that the owner’s grandmother apparently started in the 1960s. The path winds down through some residential streets where you’ll see locals hanging laundry and tending to their impossibly perfect gardens filled with lavender and rosemary. Once you hit the water, you’re on one of the nicer stretches of Lapad’s coastline, not the super crowded bit near the big hotels where you’re fighting for towel space. The pebble beach here is actually comfortable to walk on barefoot – well, mostly comfortable. I’d still recommend those rubber beach shoes if you’re planning to do much swimming.

The apartment’s setup is thoughtful in ways that suggest the owners actually use this space themselves sometimes. The kitchen has proper knives (not those dull things you usually get in rentals), the shower has decent water pressure, and there’s actually enough closet space for a week-long stay. The balcony faces east, so morning coffee happens in lovely soft light, though you’ll want to move inside by mid-afternoon when the sun gets serious. Air conditioning works well, which matters more than you might think – Dubrovnik summers can be pretty intense.

Honestly, the 9.3 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not flashy or trying to impress anyone, but everything just… works. The location gives you that perfect balance of being close to everything touristy while feeling like you’re staying in an actual neighborhood. You can walk to the old town if you’re feeling energetic (about 25 minutes along the water), or catch the bus that runs every fifteen minutes during the day. Plus, having your own parking means you can easily explore places like Cavtat or even venture up to Montenegro for a day trip without the usual logistical headaches.

Apartment is located close to the beach and the park (don't miss it, there are some beautiful views to see), nice and calm location. Very nice hospitable owners, clean room. Nice private parking (otherwise it maybe be tricky to find a spot). Some really good traditional restourants close by with good prices.

Thank you Vesna and Mario for your hospitality and kindness! This property and the hosts are a real treasure! The apartment is very well situated in the new town of Dubrovnik, near bus stops, restaurants, bakeries and supermarket. We had everything that we needed for a perfect journey in this beautiful town. Mario helped us a lot with all the questions and needs that we had and made our stay more than perfect! The apartment is clean, cozy, perfect for a family with kids! Definitely I recommend it! 🙂

Nice, quiet location, close to the super market, few restaurants around, apartment had everything you need for a wonderful stay. There is a beach close by, excellent for the summer. The host was very polite and professional. Helped us with so many suggestions where to eat and what to see in the city. Wonderful stay.

What could be improved: Everything was ok.

  • Sandra from United States – 25 October 2024 (10/10)

This is a fantastic flat in the best location. It is spacious with everything you need to cook, visit the beach, do laundry, etc. Groceries, restaurants, cafes, the bus stop, and the beach are all only a short walk away. The neighborhood is cozy, quiet with just enough activity, much better than staying in the crowded old town!

The best part of staying here was interacting with Vesna and Mario. They welcome you as part of the family and want to make sure you have a comfortable stay. Mario picked me up from the airport and gave me many tips on getting around the area. Vesna walked me around the neighborhood at 10 pm to get me oriented and to help me find someplace open where I could get something to eat. They are such kind people. I will definitely be coming back with family and friends and can’t imagine staying anywhere but here when in Dubrovnik!

  • Kristine from Canada – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

We really enjoyed the lovely host meeting us to show us to the apartment and give us keys and instructions. Close to the beach and bus stop to the Old Town. The host had all the information we needed to travel around the city easily. Grocery store was close by, too.

  • David from United States – 5 September 2024 (9/10)

Very well situated to nice beach and great restaurants and not far from Old Town. Had everything we needed. Get the Dubrovnik Pass. Would definitely stay there again. Vesna and Mario are very friendly and helpful.

  • Peter from Denmark – 21 July 2024 (10/10)

Location was excellent. Easy access to everything and the lovely people we rented from helped with busses, restaurants, etc.
Beach with a 7 minute walk. Bus to old town at the end of the road. Grocery store 3 minute walk away. And a couple of really good restaurants right in the neighborhood.

What could be improved: I mean, really nothing! If i really have to nit pick it would be the size of the shower. But come on!!

  • Fe from United States – 18 June 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is perfect location with restaurants, bar, beach, supermarket and only few stops for public bus to the Old Town. Most especially the Owner Mario and the mom were both very friendly and helpful! Making a phone call for us to the one of the restaurant nearby to stay open for us to have a late dinner at 11pm. They also helped us to booked for the boat tour to make sure we’re taking care of.

  • Debraj from Sweden – 4 June 2024 (10/10)

We were 3 friends, and luckily all the 3 rooms including the living room had its own doors. So, we could have our private spaces to a good extent!

  • Xueying from China – 30 May 2024 (8/10)

The home is decorated with Croatia style, very transitional and cozy. It’s my favourite stay during whole trip.

What could be improved: The bathroom is small, especially the shower show, too narrow for a person to take shower.
