Hotel Description

You know what really struck me about Villa Bruna? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street – Ivana Matijaševića – that most tourists never even find, but you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Pile Gate and all the Old Town madness. I mean, you get the best of both worlds here: you can stumble back from dinner in Dubrovnik’s ancient streets without dealing with cruise ship crowds right outside your window.

The place has this authentic Croatian family-run feel that’s getting harder to find these days. When I walked in, there was this lovely older woman at reception who actually remembered my name the whole stay (rare, honestly) and gave me proper local tips – like which bakery opens earliest for fresh burek and how to avoid the worst crowds at the city walls. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent shower pressure – but it’s the little touches that got me. Fresh flowers in the lobby, windows that actually open wide (you’d be surprised how many places have those tiny hotel windows), and the morning coffee was genuinely good, not that watery hotel stuff.

Here’s the thing about the location that nobody tells you: you’re close enough to walk everywhere, but far enough up the hill that you miss most of the late-night noise from Stradun. I could hear the church bells from the Old Town in the morning, which was actually pretty magical, but no drunk tourists singing at 2 AM. The 9.8 rating honestly makes sense – it’s not fancy, but they nail the basics and then some. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve driven in Dubrovnik, you know is basically a miracle. The staff helped coordinate everything, and I didn’t have to circle the neighborhood for twenty minutes like I did at other places. One small thing – the WiFi got a bit spotty during busy evening hours, but honestly, you’re in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, so maybe that’s not the worst problem to have.

  Absolutely everything!
  The villa was incredibly well equipped with great amenities, and was spacious enough for 12 of us to stay in comfortably and none of us wanted to leave!
  The pool was a lovely temperature and we enjoyed it every day of our 6 day stay in April.
  The location is brilliant with it being a 10/15 minutes walk to old town, or a short bus/taxi ride. It was also near a variety of shops for food.
  The outdoor dining and BBQ area was a great feature and we all loved it.
  We couldn't say enough good things about Villa Bruna. It felt like a little paradise!
  
  What could be improved: There was some noise from the nearby street, but this was to be expected and wasn't a problem; especially since we had such a secluded and beautiful area all to ourselves.

  What could be improved: The property has 6 toilets but only 3 bathrooms. The website description says 6 bathrooms. This was a challenge as there was 11 of us, we werent expecting to have to share bathrooms.

  The outside garden, pool and bbq area is amazing. Plenty of room for all the family to enjoy. Staff went the extra mile to ensure we were happy throughout our stay, for example leaving complimentary fresh fruit bowl, chocolates & coal for the bbq. The villa had everything we needed!
  
  What could be improved: Nothing bad to report about the property. Would advise future guests to bring mosquito / bug deterrents as this was the only issue we experienced during our stay.

  wow, it’s amazing!! very large and clean, two washing machines, great pool with outdoor toilet and toilet. there’s a bbq outside where you can grill, along with multiple lounge chairs and a mini fridge. great layout! inside a well stocked kitchen with a huge fridge and everything working and top notch. they even welcomed us with beverages, fruits, nuts, candies, and local liquor. we were two families and easily could have fit another. wifi worked great in most areas, and they even had wifi outdoors. about a 15 minute walk to old town. the hosts were very nice, communicative, and welcoming. highly recommend

  Geweldige locatie, binnen 15 min lopen in centrum. Ruim zwembad en terras met veel privacy. Keuken met alles wat je nodig hebt. Vriendelijke verhuurders. Tip: boek een boot trip via verhuurder.
  
  What could be improved: Vanwege de centrale ligging vlakbij een redelijk drukke weg soms getoeter en optrekkende auto’s op de achtergrond.
