Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Villa Madonna della Strada? The name sounds way fancier than what you’re actually getting – and honestly, that’s not a bad thing. This little apartment sits right on Crijevićeva ulica, which is basically a narrow stone street that winds through Dubrovnik’s Old Town like most of them do. I mean, you’re literally inside the ancient city walls here, so when you step out that door, you’re immediately walking on centuries-old stones with tourists snapping photos every few feet. The building itself has that weathered Adriatic charm – thick stone walls that actually keep things cool during those brutal summer afternoons when the Old Town turns into a bit of an oven.
The apartment is pretty straightforward for a 3-star place, nothing that’ll blow you away but everything works like it should. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, especially considering you’re smack in the middle of what can be a pretty hectic tourist zone during peak season. The thick walls definitely help with that – you’ll hear the occasional late-night reveler stumbling down the cobblestones, but it’s more charming than annoying. The space feels authentically Croatian without trying too hard, if that makes sense. Simple furniture, decent bathroom, and a little kitchenette that’s actually useful if you grab some stuff from the morning market near Pile Gate. Speaking of which, you’re about a 5-minute walk from there, which means you can duck out to get fresh bread and coffee before the cruise ship crowds descend around 9 AM.
Here’s the thing about staying inside the Old Town walls – it’s simultaneously the best and most challenging part of your Dubrovnik experience. You can’t get a taxi or Uber right to your door (obviously), so you’ll be dragging your luggage across those uneven stones, which gets old fast if you’re not prepared for it. But then again, you’re steps away from everything that matters. The city walls entrance is literally around the corner, you can walk to any restaurant or bar without thinking about it, and there’s something pretty magical about having morning coffee on these ancient streets before the day-trippers arrive. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what you’d expect from a solid Old Town base. Just remember to pack light and wear comfortable shoes, because you’ll be doing a lot of walking on stone, and trust me, those cobblestones are beautiful but they’re not exactly forgiving on your feet or your suitcase wheels.

The person who met us was on time, and very very helpful , He even carried our luggage up 4 flights of stairs in the city !! What great service. Little touches like the fruit bowl was a nice touch so you didn't have to shop for your first snack. It was clean, Quite, and wonderful location. It was in excellent condition. The breakfast was in a great restrant on main street with wonderful food.

The property was very nice and clean and offered the option with a kitchenette to make your own meals.

Location was great and was met at the gate where the hotel staff help bring our luggage to the room.
What could be improved: Room was small and stairs steep so hard to put our suitcases out.Cara from United Kingdom – 18 June 2023 (9/10)

The location was excellent given it is in the old city which many people prefer for the experience and atmosphere.
The host Tena, Toma and house keeper were tremendous host. They all went the extra mile to ensure satisfaction and comfort. Both Tena and Toma would respond to any queries swiftly. Tena managed my Island tour by arranging the pick up time. Thank you Tena.
Toma provided the supporting information that allowed me to choose alternative suppliers for the excursions. Thank you Toma.
The above are examples of going the extra mile.
We were not 100% comfortable in our original booked accommodation so the host provided a good alternative which we took up.
Finally, on the day we checked out the host allowed us to store our luggage inside the premises so we could enjoy the remaining time in Dubrovnik.

What could be improved: Generally, the authorites in management should consider sign posting the individual apartments at the beginning of the street or Ucila in the same way the restaurants are set out. This should make navigation more effective.Mike from United Kingdom – 28 May 2023 (8/10)
very comfortable.
we’re met at the polce gate and our bags were taken to our room. great service as the steps are steep and plentiful.
