Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and Villa Roma honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away on Ante Starčevića – which, if you’re not familiar with the area, is this quiet residential street that’s actually walking distance to the Old Town but far enough away that you won’t hear the tourist crowds at night. I mean, you can still get to Stradun in about 15 minutes on foot, but you’re sleeping peacefully while everyone else is dealing with late-night revelry echoing off ancient stone walls.
The thing about Villa Roma is that it feels like someone’s elegant home that just happens to take guests. The owner clearly has taste – there’s this mix of traditional Croatian touches and modern comfort that actually works instead of feeling forced. My room had these gorgeous wooden shutters that opened onto a small balcony, and honestly, having morning coffee out there while listening to the neighborhood wake up was worth the stay alone. The beds are properly comfortable too, which you can’t always count on in this part of the world. What really got me was the attention to small details – good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and the shower actually had decent water pressure (trust me, this matters after a long day wandering Dubrovnik’s hills).
The staff here genuinely know their stuff about the city. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but they pointed me toward this little konoba about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise – best pašticada I had during my entire trip. They also sorted out my confusion about the local bus system without making me feel like an idiot, which I appreciated. Parking can be a bit tricky in this neighborhood, but they’ve got a small lot and the guy at reception helped me navigate the whole situation on arrival. You know what else? The place stays relatively quiet even during peak summer season – I was there in July and could actually sleep with the windows open, which is pretty remarkable for anywhere in Dubrovnik. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not trying to be some flashy resort, just a really solid place run by people who care about getting the details right.

Reviews
The apartment began to feel like home… – Clare from United Kingdom – 25 June 2025 (9/10)
It’s a cool, contemporary apartment in an interesting building. It’s in a great location for walking to all points of interest including the port of Gruz. Communication is first rate and the hosts are proactive in responding to queries.
What could be improved: The steps are tricky, especially with luggage. It’s worth the effort though!Exceptional – Jimenez from Costa Rica – 17 November 2024 (10/10)
You will find anything what you need in this property.
It’s just 1 km from old town
What could be improved: It has many stairs to get into the property, but it was not a problem for meBeautiful apartment in a quiet location near Old Town – Marni from United States – 10 October 2024 (9/10)
Lovely spot, convenient for buses and an easy walk to Old Town. Good amenities in the apartment and nearby

What could be improved: Quite a lot of steps and with a heavy case and just my daughter it was difficult to get up and downProbably the best and affordable flat in entire Dubrovnik – Erika from Sweden – 7 August 2024 (9/10)
The location is absolutely perfect. It’s a short walk from Lapad, Grûz and Old Town and very close to Dubrovnik’s best beach Bellevue. The facility is modern and clean. The host is beyond superb and very helpful with everything you could imagine during your trip.
What could be improved: The only and I mean only downside is that when you arrive at night, there are no light outdoors and if you are afraid of the dark like me it can be a bit scary.Really nice modern apartment with character would definitely book again – Rosie from United Kingdom – 14 June 2024 (8/10)
