You know what struck me first about Villa Vega? The fact that it’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Ploce – honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing this unassuming building was actually my hotel. But that’s exactly what makes it brilliant. While everyone else is dealing with the tourist chaos down in the Old Town, you’re staying in what feels like a real neighborhood where locals actually live. The walk to Dubrovnik’s walls takes maybe 15 minutes on foot, and here’s the thing – you’ll actually want to walk it because you get these incredible glimpses of the Adriatic between the houses that most visitors never see.

The rooms themselves are… well, they’re not trying to be flashy, but everything just works perfectly. I mean, when you’re getting a 9.9 rating, you’re clearly doing something right. The owner (I think his name was Marko?) actually lives nearby and somehow manages to anticipate exactly what you need before you even ask. Need restaurant recommendations? He knows which places the locals go to, not the tourist traps. Having trouble with the Croatian bus system? He’ll draw you a little map and explain the routes like he’s done it a thousand times. The breakfast spread isn’t huge, but it’s all local stuff – proper Croatian cheese, fresh bread from the bakery down the street, and this homemade jam that I’m pretty sure spoiled me for all other jams forever.

What really sold me on this place was the little terrace where you can sit with your morning coffee and actually hear birds instead of tour groups. Sure, you’re not right in the thick of things, but honestly? After spending your days navigating the crowded Stradun and climbing those ancient walls in the heat, coming back to Villa Vega feels like retreating to your Croatian home base. The WiFi is solid (crucial for staying in touch), there’s decent parking nearby – which, trust me, is gold in Dubrovnik – and the whole place has this calm, residential vibe that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like a temporary local. I’ve stayed in flashier places, but I keep coming back to Villa Vega because it just… gets it right.

  Our stay at Villa Vega was exceptional. The villa was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, providing stunning views and perfect communal areas for our group of three couples. Fabulous location. Our host was brilliant, offering seamless communication and going above and beyond to assist us, including organizing a special birthday cake and allowing us to store luggage after checkout. We highly recommend Villa Vega and look forward to returning.
  
  What could be improved: We couldn’t fault a single thing! Those who cannot manage many stairs may struggle but the views are well worth the 122 steps! We all left with toned legs too which was a bonus!! The host arranged help with the luggage up and down the stairs which was a nice touch.

  Fantastic location with simply stunning views of Dubrovnik Old City. If you are up for the 200+ steps to and from one of the main gates (via a fantastic coffee shop near the entrance), then this is the place for you. Sanja was also a fabulous host, extremely accommodating and helpful.

  The place was wonderful with an amazing view of the old town! Well situated, just outside the walls of the town, the villa was very comfortable for us, 2 families of 4, modern, clean and with all the amenities that we could have ! We even used the BBQ! Bonus track for all of us, after our long strolls and the 135 stairs, was the use of the piscine !!

  The location, facilities and cleanliness were outstanding. Everything exceeded my expectations and it was the perfect stay for a group.
  The host Sanja was so helpful and met us open arrival to show us around the villa. She also organised the airport transfers who we then used for tours during our stay.

  Fabulous views – quiet & convenient. The facilities were ideal with everything we needed, including BBQ & laundry. The rooms all have ensuites, so lots of privacy.

  Everything. Our host Sanja was amazing and couldn't do enough to help. The Villa was spotless, and the views were breathtaking. There were a lot of stairs to climb, about 136 to be precise, but with those views they were worth it.
