Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of apartments in Dubrovnik over the years, and the Vintage Dream Peyton place on Marka Marojice really caught me off guard – in a good way. When I first walked up to number 9, I was honestly expecting another cookie-cutter tourist rental, but there’s something genuinely charming about this spot that you don’t find everywhere in Lapad.

The location is actually perfect if you know Dubrovnik at all. You’re far enough from the Old Town chaos (thank god) but close enough that you can walk to Gruz port in about fifteen minutes when you need to catch those island ferries. The street itself is quiet – I mean, you’ll hear the occasional car, but nothing like the madness near Stradun. What really sold me was how the owner clearly put thought into the vintage touches without making it feel like a museum. The apartment has this lived-in warmth that makes you want to actually hang out there instead of just crashing between sightseeing marathons. I spent way more time on that little balcony than I planned, just watching the neighborhood come alive in the mornings.

You know what impressed me most? The practical stuff actually works. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, the shower has decent pressure (rare in older Croatian buildings), and – this might sound weird – but the kitchen is set up like someone who actually cooks uses it. I made coffee there every morning and it felt natural, not like I was fumbling around someone else’s random setup. The 8.4 rating makes total sense when you consider it’s a 3-star place that punches above its weight. Sure, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a concierge, but honestly, who needs that when you’re exploring Dubrovnik anyway?

The Lapad peninsula location means you’re walking distance to some decent beaches that aren’t completely overrun with cruise ship crowds – Uvala bay is maybe eight minutes away and locals actually swim there. Plus, if you’re the type who likes to grab groceries and eat in sometimes (smart move given restaurant prices in the Old Town), there’s a Konzum supermarket that’s super close. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak summer months, but the owner gives you the real scoop on where to find spots, not just the official tourist advice that doesn’t actually help. I stayed there in September and it was perfect – still warm enough for swimming but without the July madness when every corner of Dubrovnik feels like a sardine can.
