You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name sounds like some generic booking code, but once you actually get to Žrtava s Dakse street in Lapad, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special. I mean, this duplex apartment sits in this quiet residential area that honestly feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel experience.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Dubrovnik at all. Lapad peninsula is where the locals hang out – it’s got this laid-back vibe that’s completely different from the tourist circus in Old Town. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Sunset Beach (which, okay, isn’t the most original name but the sunsets there are legitimately gorgeous), and there’s this whole network of little paths and stairs that wind through the neighborhood. I spent way too much time just wandering around because every corner has these glimpses of the Adriatic through the pine trees. The duplex itself feels surprisingly spacious – you’ve got room to actually spread out, which is rare in Dubrovnik where most places are cramped into ancient stone buildings. The living area flows nicely into the kitchen, and honestly, having a proper kitchen made such a difference. There’s something about making coffee in the morning and sitting on the terrace that just hits different than rushing down to a hotel breakfast buffet. The upstairs bedroom catches this great cross-breeze in the evenings, and you can hear the waves if you open the windows – not the party noise from Stradun, just that gentle constant sound that actually helps you sleep.

What really sold me on this spot was how it sits right in that sweet spot between accessible and peaceful. You’re close enough to catch the bus into Old Town (the stop is literally a few minutes away), but when you come back in the evening, you’re stepping into this residential bubble where kids are playing in the streets and neighbors are chatting on their balconies. The whole Lapad area has this network of little konobas and cafés that most tourists never find – there’s this one place about five minutes away where the owner makes the best black risotto I’ve had in Croatia, and the prices are what locals actually pay. Parking wasn’t the nightmare I expected either, though I’d still recommend getting specific directions from the hosts because these residential streets can be a bit of a maze the first time. The apartment itself is maintained really well – everything works, it’s clean without feeling sterile, and there are those little touches that show someone actually cares about the place rather than just running it as a business.
