You know what struck me first about Apartment Antonija? The moment I walked into that fourth-floor unit on Ulica kneza Branimira, I actually said “wow” out loud – and I’m not usually that person. The sea view isn’t just some glimpse of blue between buildings; it’s this proper panoramic thing that makes you want to grab your coffee and just stand there for way too long.

I mean, staying in Lapad has its perks that most tourists don’t really get until they’re there. You’re far enough from the Old Town crowds (honestly, thank god for that during summer), but the bus connection is so ridiculously easy – maybe fifteen minutes and you’re at Pile Gate. What I loved though was having actual neighborhood life around me. There’s this little bakery two blocks down where the locals go for their morning burek, and the Lapad Bay promenade is perfect for those evening walks when the Old Town feels like a tourist zoo. The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there, not like those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s beige and bolted down. Antonija clearly knows what travelers need – the kitchen had proper knives (you’d be surprised how rare that is), the shower pressure was excellent, and the Wi-Fi didn’t cut out every five minutes. I also appreciated the little touches, like having beach towels available and actual hangers in the closet, not those weird hook things that hold nothing.

The building’s pretty typical for Dubrovnik – stone, solid, but you’ll definitely hear your upstairs neighbors if they’re clomping around in heels at midnight. Parking can be a bit of a hunt in the neighborhood, especially if you arrive during peak season, but honestly that’s just Dubrovnik for you. What made this place special was how it felt like a real slice of living in the city rather than just passing through. That 9.7 rating isn’t inflated – I stayed five nights and genuinely didn’t want to leave, which says something because I’m usually ready to move on after three days anywhere. The sea view from the balcony during sunset… well, it’s the kind of thing that makes you understand why people fall in love with this coast.
