Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? The Apartment Big One is one of those finds that makes you want to keep it secret. It’s tucked away on Ulica Nikole Napice in Ploče – which, if you know the area, puts you in this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the cruise ship chaos that hits the Old Town every morning around 9 AM.
The apartment itself is actually pretty spacious (hence the name, I guess), and when I say spacious, I mean you can actually unpack your suitcase without playing Tetris with the furniture. The owner clearly gets what travelers need – there’s proper counter space in the kitchen, the shower has decent water pressure, and you know what really impressed me? The air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine. Small things, but they matter when you’re trying to recover from those steep Dubrovnik stone steps. The whole place feels lived-in but well-maintained, if that makes sense – like someone’s nice apartment that they’ve thoughtfully prepared for guests, not some sterile hotel room.
What really sets this place apart though is the location knowledge you get. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Banje Beach, which most tourists don’t realize is the best spot for sunset photos with the city walls in the background. Plus, there’s this little bakery around the corner – I think it’s on Frana Supila – that opens early and has these amazing burek pastries that locals actually eat. The parking situation is decent too, which anyone who’s driven in Dubrovnik will tell you is like finding gold. I mean, it’s not right outside your door, but it’s not one of those places where you circle for an hour either. The neighborhood gets quiet at night, which is refreshing after dealing with the restaurant crowds and street performers in the old city. During summer, you’ll hear some nightlife from the direction of the harbor, but it’s more ambient than annoying – actually kind of nice falling asleep to the distant sound of people enjoying themselves. The 9.5 rating makes total sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely good at being what it is.

Great stay in a great location! Would return! Perfect location and loved the balcony! Lots of space for 5 people and great facilities in the apartment including the kitchen.
What could be improved: Some of plug sockets were hanging off the wall and didn’t look safe to use.
As a group of 5 who all wanted to shower at similar times, we often ran out of warm water so had to have cold showers.
Exceptional Extraordinary helpful and kind host lady! From organising airport transfers to organising invoices, and even willing to help should there be a departure issue (cause by unforeseen events)! Thank you very much indeed!
Exceptional Stayed there with extended family and had the most wonderful time - great location and we took the steps as a way to counterbalance food intake - highly recommended!

Perfect. Comfortable, close to the action but quiet and spacious It is very comfortable like being at home. It has everything that you need including tablets for the dishwasher and which was great.
It is only 10 minutes walk down to the old town and to the beach (a bit more back up!) but the apartment is quiet and you have space. We loved the balconies with views between the trees to Lokrum island and the old town.
The hosts are very responsive to messages and are very kind. We would recommend the airport service as it costs no more than a taxi but is a much more helpful personal service.
What could be improved: Nothing.
