The apartment had everything that you would need for a short stay. It was close to restaurants and the main tourist spots. The bed was very comfortable.
What could be improved: We didn't realise that there would be so many stairs to get to the apartment, so if you have a problem with stairs, this is not the place for you. Also didn't realise that the bathroom was downstairs.

First Impressions
Walking up to Apartment Domino OldTown feels like discovering a hidden gem tucked away on one of Dubrovnik’s quieter cobblestone streets. The building itself has that authentic Dalmatian stone facade you see throughout the old city, but what struck me immediately was how peaceful Ulica od Domina feels compared to the main tourist thoroughfares just a few minutes away. You’re literally in the heart of everything — I mean, you can’t get more central than this — but somehow the location manages to feel residential rather than touristy.
Location & Getting Around
Honestly, the location is pretty much perfect for exploring Dubrovnik’s Old Town on foot. You’re about a three-minute walk from Stradun, the main pedestrian street, but far enough away that you won’t hear the crowds at night. The city walls are right there when you want to do the famous walk, and I found myself popping back to the apartment throughout the day since everything was so close. What I really appreciated was being able to duck into local konobas (that’s what they call traditional restaurants here) that the day-trippers never find because they’re tucked away in these residential side streets.
The Apartment Experience
The four-star rating makes sense once you step inside — everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just functional. The apartment has that perfect balance of modern amenities with traditional Croatian touches, and the space actually feels like a home rather than a sterile hotel room. I loved having a proper kitchen since you can grab fresh ingredients from the morning market near the Pile Gate and cook with local produce. The stone walls keep things cool during those hot summer afternoons, which is honestly a blessing when you’ve been walking around the city walls in 30-degree heat.
Neighborhood Life
What really sets this place apart is how it lets you experience Dubrovnik like a temporary local rather than just another tourist. In the mornings, you’ll see neighbors heading out for coffee and kids playing in the small squares — it’s this glimpse of real life that you miss when you’re staying in the more commercial parts of town. The narrow streets around Apartment Domino OldTown are where you’ll find the best family-run restaurants and tiny shops selling homemade olive oil and wine. I actually ended up having some of my best conversations with locals just by wandering these quieter alleys.
Why Guests Love It
The high ratings make complete sense when you consider what most people are looking for in Dubrovnik — authentic atmosphere without sacrificing comfort or location. Couples especially seem to love this place, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about having your own little Croatian hideaway where you can retreat after long days of sightseeing, plus the intimate scale of the neighborhood means you’re never fighting crowds just to get home. You know what really sold me though? Being able to grab morning coffee from a local cafe where the barista actually remembered my order by day three — that’s the kind of experience you just can’t get in a big hotel.
