You know what struck me first about Apartment Duby? It’s tucked away on Brgatska Street in Ploče, which honestly might be the sweet spot for staying in Dubrovnik. I mean, you’re close enough to walk to the Old Town without dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your door – and trust me, that matters when you’re trying to sleep after those long summer days exploring the walls.

The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there, not like those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s bolted down. The kitchen’s properly equipped (I’m talking real knives and decent pans), which is rare for vacation rentals. The owners clearly know their stuff – little touches like having olive oil already there, or decent WiFi that actually works when you need to upload those sunset photos from Fort Lovrijenac. The 9.3 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be fancy, just genuinely comfortable. The shower pressure’s solid, the beds are firm but not rock-hard, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week.

What really sells this place is the location knowledge you get. You’re a five-minute walk from Banje Beach – yeah, the one with the postcard views of the city walls – but you can also hit the less touristy spots easily. There’s this little bakery around the corner that locals actually use (you’ll smell it in the mornings), and the bus stop for getting to Cavtat or the airport is basically right there. Parking can be tricky in this part of town, but they’ll sort you out with proper directions, not just “figure it out yourself” like some places. The area gets quiet at night too, which is clutch when you’ve spent the day dodging cruise ship crowds. Summer mornings here are perfect – you can grab coffee and pastries, then be at the Pile Gate before the first tour groups arrive. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re actually staying in Dubrovnik, not just visiting it.

  We spent a wonderful few days in Apartment Duby. We availed of Mario's transfers to and from the airport which were so convenient as we arrived in Dubrovnik Airport late at night. Mario's apartment has a large terrace with a panoramic view. Two separate bathrooms with powerful showers were perfect for our group of five. We walked down the hill to the Old Town and got Ubers back! We would wholeheartedly recommend Mario and Apartment Duby.

  Great apartment with lots of space. And Mario is incredibly nice. About 10 minutes by foot into the old town if you take the stairs (our kids counted 418 Steps 😉 ).

  Fab apartment, modern and super clean. Lovely vibes in the apartment area. Lots of other tourists. Beautiful views and we loved the balcony. Much nicer than the photos !
  
  What could be improved: The steps are a killer in the heat!! We flew down to the old town takes approx 7 mins but coming back up 3 times a day is a gym workout!

  Confortable apartment with superb views. Very comfy beds. Very quiet area but relatively close to the old town
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is at the top of a very steep hill. Walking up and down can be quite a challenge. However we used Uber taxis a fair bit.
