You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and Apartment Elezovic is honestly one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some local code. It’s tucked away on Majkovska street – which, if you don’t know the area, is this quiet residential stretch that most tourists never even notice. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Old Town madness, but the difference in atmosphere is night and day. I mean, you can still hear the distant hum of the crowds during peak season, but it’s more like background music than the full symphony of chaos you get right in the thick of things.

The apartment itself has that lived-in quality that I actually prefer over sterile hotel rooms. The owner, I’m guessing a member of the Elezovic family, clearly knows what travelers need – there’s proper blackout curtains (thank god, because Dubrovnik summers are bright), a kitchen that’s actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the Konzum down the street, and honestly, the Wi-Fi is better than most four-star hotels I’ve tried. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’re there for a day or two. It’s not flashy, but everything just… works. The shower has proper water pressure, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a tractor, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase – which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.

What really sold me on this place, though, is the location knowledge you get just by being here. You’re close enough to walk to Banje Beach without the tourist bus crowds, and there’s this little konoba called Dalmatino maybe three blocks away that serves the best black risotto I’ve had outside of a local’s grandmother’s kitchen. The walk to the city walls takes you down these narrow stone streets where you’ll pass locals hanging laundry and kids playing football – it’s that authentic neighborhood feeling that’s getting harder to find in Dubrovnik these days. Plus, and this is crucial if you’re visiting in summer, you can escape back to the apartment when the Old Town gets overwhelming around midday. The street stays relatively cool, there’s usually a breeze from the direction of the harbor, and you can recharge before heading out for evening adventures. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area – I’d recommend asking the owners about it when you book – but honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car much anyway.
