You know what really got me about Apartment Hedera A4? It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street – Ulica Ilije Sarake – that most tourists probably walk right past without even noticing. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Stradun (that’s the main drag through Old Town for anyone wondering), but somehow this little street feels like a secret. The building itself has that weathered Dubrovnik stone that looks ancient but somehow welcoming at the same time.

The apartment honestly surprised me with how spacious it felt inside those thick medieval walls. You get this perfect balance – historic character everywhere you look, but actually functional modern touches where they matter. The kitchen’s compact but well-equipped (I actually cooked a few meals there using stuff from the morning market near the cathedral), and the air conditioning works like a dream, which trust me, you’ll appreciate in July and August when the stone streets turn into ovens. What really sold me though was stepping out onto that little balcony in the evening. You can hear the gentle hum of people wandering the alleys below, maybe some distant music from one of the restaurants, but it’s not chaotic like some places right on the main tourist routes.

Location-wise, it’s pretty much perfect if you want to be in the heart of everything without dealing with the cruise ship crowds that swarm certain areas during the day. You’re maybe a two-minute walk to some incredible restaurants – there’s this little konoba down toward the harbor that locals actually eat at, not just tourists. And honestly, being inside the walls means you can wander around early morning or late evening when the city transforms completely. The check-in was smooth too – the owner met me right at the apartment and gave me these great insider tips about timing my visits to popular spots. Only tiny complaint? The stairs are steep and narrow (typical for Old Town), so if you’re hauling heavy luggage, maybe pack light or be prepared for a bit of a workout. But seriously, with a 9.2 rating, this place delivers exactly what it promises – authentic Dubrovnik living with all the modern comforts you actually need.

  What could be improved: Would suggest non slip tug pad under the living room area rug and fix the seal on shower door so does not leak all over bathroom floor.

  Modern, stylish apartment with lots of room and fully equipped kitchen and a laundry. We didn’t use the kitchen, as we wanted to try all the delicious food at the restaurants.

  Great location and nice clean apartment. Breakfast vouchers were provided for a local cafe, which was nice also. The apartment overall was good value for money albeit the steps to the mezzanine bed are very steep and definitely not suitable for very young children or older travellers. Our girls are 11 and 13 and they were fine. There is a bedroom in the lower apartment which we used.

  De locatie was super, in de oude stad, dichtbij een rots strandje, en genoeg restaurants en Konzum om de hoek. Appartement was van alles voorzien, perfect!

  What could be improved: Es waren nur ein paar Kleinigkeiten: Flackernde LED in Bad und Toilette. Die Spülmaschine hat ein kleines Leck. Ab und an roch es im Bad muffelig. Die Dusche ist ein wenig undicht und flutet den Boden.

  Het appartement was schoon, ruim en licht. De ligging van het appartement in de oude stad is perfect: dicht bij het haventje en bij de hoofdstraat. Het appartement is rustig gelegen in een steeg naast een restaurant. De communicatie met de verhuurders verliep zeer soepel; ze reageerden snel op vragen. Er was ook een duidelijke handleiding (met handige foto’s!) over hoe het appartement te bereiken. Kortom, een aanrader!
  
  What could be improved: Ik vond het wel vervelend dat er een borg van 500 Euro betaald moest worden. We zijn inmiddels al ruim anderhalve week thuis en de borg staat nog steeds als reservering op mijn creditcard. Dit ligt eigenlijk niet aan de verhuurders van het appartement, maar aan de bank. Ik weet niet of er voor de verhuurders een andere manier is om de borg te innen en terug te betalen, maar ik vind het inmiddels behoorlijk irritant dat mijn borg zo lang gereserveerd is. Nog een laatste ding: voor mensen die niet zo goed ter been zijn is een verblijf in de oude stad wellicht wat lastig; ons appartement was met een aantal trappen goed te bereiken. Er was geen lift.
