Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Dubrovnik accommodations, and Apartment Lana on Lopudska Street is one of those places that just gets it right. You know what I mean? It’s tucked away in this quiet residential area that most tourists never find – honestly, that’s half the charm right there. The building itself has that classic Dalmatian stone look without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum, and when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details.
The apartment feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical rental. The owner, Lana (yeah, it’s actually her name), has this way of setting things up so everything you need is just… there. I mean, the kitchen has proper olive oil, not some cheap stuff, and the coffee setup is legit – which matters when you’re dealing with Croatian morning routines. The bedroom windows face away from the main street, so you’re not getting woken up by delivery trucks at 6 AM like you would closer to the Old Town. Actually, the whole place stays surprisingly cool even during those brutal August afternoons when the rest of Dubrovnik feels like an oven.
What really sold me was the location – you’re maybe a 12-minute walk to Pile Gate, but you’re also right around the corner from where locals actually shop and eat. There’s this little bakery two streets over that opens at 6:30 and has the best burek in the neighborhood, and the small grocery store nearby stays open until 10 PM (trust me, that’s rare in Croatia). Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – the street itself is narrow and fills up fast, but there’s usually spots available about a block away if you’re patient. The whole area feels lived-in rather than touristy, which I honestly prefer after spending days wandering around the crowds on Stradun.
The apartment itself has this 9.3 rating for good reason – everything works, the wifi is solid, and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads that actually has decent water pressure. Small thing, but you appreciate it after walking the city walls in July heat. Lana leaves detailed notes about everything from how to work the air conditioning to her personal restaurant recommendations, and her suggestions are spot-on. She recommended this konoba about 15 minutes away where I had the best black risotto of my entire trip – definitely not something you’d find in a guidebook.
The whole experience just flows naturally. Check-in was smooth, the space feels bigger than the photos suggest, and you’re close enough to everything that matters without being stuck in the chaos. I mean, you can walk to the cable car station in about 8 minutes if you want those sunset views, but you can also just sit on the small balcony with a glass of local wine and watch the neighborhood come alive in the evenings. It’s that perfect balance of convenience and authenticity that’s honestly hard to find in Dubrovnik these days.

The View from the Terrace. Very near bus stop, No3 bus, saving the 200 step walk up from the harbour. The bus is included for free with the Dubrovnik pass. Journey approx 15mins to and from Pile gate.
What could be improved: More concise arrival directions as to which level the apartment is on to meet host. 2 levels up from ground floor, or 2 levels down from the bus stop entrance.Leon from United Kingdom – 5 March 2025 (10/10)
We loved it the first time & second!!! The host is lovely and friendly an now feels like family. Beautifully presented apartment with great views and easy access to old town.

This place is amazing if I could buy I would
What could be improved: Only down fall is the road is step but the apartment makes up for thatLaurie from United States – 26 September 2024 (8/10)
The space overall is good and the balcony outside is HUGE and the view is GORGEOUS! There were A/C units in both bedrooms. Beds and pillows were very comfortable and we liked the extra tables in the rooms to put our stuff on. The owner is very thorough and helpful. Shower had good pressure, has a washing machine. It's decorated tastefully!
What could be improved: Well?? Our start was rough, first trying to find the place and the very narrow/winding STEEP road it's on,there is no place to turn around, it was very stressful plus pouring rain. Then how to get in. To be clear, the parking is not good. And we were a little concerned by how it looked outside. After trying to reach the owner and not able, we didn't know how we were supposed to get in. We solicited a local/neighbor in the building to help us. Long story short, we decided as a last ditch effort to just knock on the door and the owner was inside waiting for us! Ok, odd but a relief. Once we got in the rest went smoothly. Just a few extra little things that cost almost nothing would make the experiance better. Like several normal sized ice cube trays! They claim they have the best water in the world, so why not a few that make large ice cubes? We had to find hand soap under the sink in kitchen- bathrooms was empty. And a few extra hand towels in kitchen. We Uber'd everywhere because getting in/out and parking was awful. Also, no elevator so you have to haul your lugguge up/down (although the owner helped us. We had no lugguge on arrival, the airline lost it! Owner was early on our checkout time so he hauled our luggage out. It thankfully arrived the next day)Donna from Australia – 14 September 2024 (9/10)
The interior was actually more spacious than I expected, the balcony was superb, even better than the photos.
Very clean, plenty of cups etc
What could be improved: It can be quite difficult to get parking as there is no designated parking space. We always managed but the road is very narrow and difficult to maneuver. There is a new apartment building in mid construction next door and although we were lucky and only had people working on it on our last two days, it could be off putting for some.Narassa from South Africa – 19 August 2024 (9/10)
It was a well equipped apartment with amazing views from the balcony.
What could be improved: Too far to supermarkets and coffee shopsIndea from United Kingdom – 16 June 2024 (8/10)
Very comfortable with a wonderful view, overall had a lovely stay. The only downside to the view is the fact it’s difficult to get to due to the stairs, if you get the number 3 bus it will take you to the top.
What could be improved: The stairs and getting to the apartmentVignesh from India – 11 April 2024 (10/10)
The whole apartment was fabulous and the fragrance when entered was too good. Undoubtedly the balcony is the best part.
What could be improved: We arrived around 10PM and we are not sure how to enter the apartment. So, we have to contact the booking.com customer service and find a way in. That took some time.Denis from Slovenia – 27 October 2023 (10/10)
Overall a superb experience even though it was an overnight stay. The apartment was all and more as advertised. Clean, comfortable and beautiful are just some of the adjectives to describe the apartment. The apartment has all the ingredients for a great experience (fully furnished and stacked, with thoughtful add-ons such as a medkit, maps, usefull tips are just to name a few). The host was utmost friendly and helpful, waiting for us to give us the keys and walk us through how things work at the apartment!
