You know what struck me first walking up those stone steps – it’s tucked just far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually hear yourself think, but close enough that you’re literally a three-minute walk to Pile Gate. I mean, you’re in Ploce, which locals will tell you is the sweet spot if you want Old Town access without the 2 AM party crowds stumbling past your window.

The “Old Town View” part isn’t just marketing fluff either – from the apartment, you get this gorgeous angle of the city walls that most tourists never see because they’re too busy taking selfies at the same five spots. What really won me over though was how the owners actually thought about what travelers need. The morning light hits just right if you’re one of those people who likes their coffee with a view, and there’s decent air circulation (trust me, this matters in July when Dubrovnik turns into a beautiful stone oven). The kitchen’s properly equipped too – not just a mini-fridge and hopes, but actual cooking gear if you want to hit the morning market near the harbor and make something with those incredible Croatian tomatoes.

Parking’s always the nightmare question in Dubrovnik, right? Well, you’re close enough to the public lots that it’s manageable, though I’d still recommend arriving early in the day during peak season. The walk from the nearest parking isn’t bad – I’ve definitely stayed places where you’re huffing up medieval stairs with your luggage wondering why you didn’t pack lighter. Here, it’s reasonable. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you consider how hard it is to find places that balance location, comfort, and that feeling like you’re staying somewhere that actually belongs in the neighborhood rather than some sterile tourist box. The owners clearly know their stuff about what makes a stay memorable – those little touches that you don’t notice until you’re in some other place wondering why the shower pressure’s terrible or why there’s no proper place to hang wet clothes after a day exploring the walls.
