You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Oceania?
You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Oceania? The moment I stepped out onto that 4th floor balcony and realized I could actually see the Adriatic sparkling between the buildings. I mean, it’s not oceanfront by any stretch, but honestly – in Dubrovnik’s price landscape, getting glimpses of blue water from Ploče is pretty solid, especially when you’re not paying Old Town rates.
The thing about staying on Ulica Zlatni Potok is that you’re in this sweet spot where locals actually live and work. There’s a small bakery about two blocks down that opens at 6 AM (the smell of fresh bread drifts up sometimes), and you can walk to the Ploče Gate in maybe eight minutes without breaking a sweat. The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home – not in a weird way, but in that comfortable “I could live here for a week” way. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you want to grab ingredients from the market near the cable car station, and the bathroom’s surprisingly spacious for a European apartment. I will say the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in the bedroom, but it works fine in the main living area.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Sure, you’ll hear some traffic from the main road during the day, but once evening hits, it’s peaceful enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open to catch that sea breeze. The building’s got character too – one of those solid stone structures that keeps things cool even when July heat hits hard. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward (none of that “meet me at the random café” nonsense you sometimes get with apartment rentals), and they actually gave me useful tips about avoiding the cruise ship crowds at certain times. The walk back uphill after a day in the Old Town isn’t terrible, but I won’t lie – by day three, I was timing my return trips to avoid the afternoon sun. Still, for the price point and the space you get, plus being able to pop back for a midday break without dealing with hotel lobby chaos, it’s a solid choice if you want to experience Dubrovnik like you’re temporarily living there rather than just passing through.
