Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Dubrovnik, and Apartment Paco honestly surprised me in the best way. When you first walk into this three-bedroom spot in Lapad, you get hit with this really airy, lived-in feeling – not that sterile hotel vibe where everything’s wrapped in plastic. The balcony situation is actually pretty sweet; you’re facing the Adriatic and can watch the ferry boats puttering back and forth to the islands. I mean, it’s not front-row ocean views, but you know what? You’ll still catch yourself just standing out there with your morning coffee longer than you planned.
The apartment itself feels like someone’s well-loved family place that they decided to share – which, honestly, makes it way more comfortable than those cookie-cutter rentals. Three bedrooms means you’re not tripping over each other, and the kitchen’s actually equipped for real cooking if you hit up the morning market near the harbor (about a 10-minute walk down the hill). Speaking of walking, here’s something they don’t always tell you – Lapad’s got this perfect sweet spot thing going on. You’re far enough from the Old Town crowds that you can actually breathe and find parking (there’s street parking right outside, though it fills up fast in July and August), but close enough that the bus runs regularly, or it’s a pleasant 20-minute stroll along the water if you’re feeling ambitious.
What really sold me on this place was how quiet it gets at night. You’re in a residential neighborhood where actual people live, so after about 10 PM, it’s just the sound of waves and maybe some distant music from the hotel strip down by Lapad Bay. The host clearly knows their stuff too – they left this little handwritten note with restaurant recommendations that weren’t the obvious tourist traps. There’s this konoba about three blocks away where locals actually eat, and I never would’ve found it otherwise. The only tiny downside? The WiFi can get a bit spotty during peak hours, but honestly, when you’re looking out at that view with a glass of local wine, checking emails feels pretty pointless anyway. For families or groups who want space to spread out without breaking the bank on multiple hotel rooms, this place just makes sense.
