When I first pulled up to Apartment Sunny Rock, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but this four-star property in Dubrovnik’s Lapad peninsula completely won me over. The building sits quietly on Liechtensteinov put, and you know what struck me immediately? There’s actual free parking right on site, which is basically gold in a city where most places charge you an arm and a leg just to leave your car somewhere safe.
Lapad is one of those neighborhoods that locals will tell you about if you ask the right questions. It’s far enough from Dubrovnik’s Old Town crowds that you can actually breathe, but close enough that you’re not spending half your vacation commuting. I mean, couples seem to get this — the feedback I keep hearing is that it’s perfect for romantic getaways where you want some peace between all the sightseeing. The peninsula has this relaxed vibe that the main tourist areas just can’t match, plus you’re walking distance to some decent beaches that aren’t completely overrun.
The apartment setup here is what really sets this place apart from typical hotel rooms. You get a proper living area and a kitchen that’s actually functional — not one of those tiny hotel kitchenettes where you can barely make coffee. This matters more than you’d think, especially if you’re staying for more than a couple nights or want to grab some local ingredients from the market. The whole place feels bright and airy (hence the “Sunny Rock” name, I suppose), and the furnishings are modern without being sterile.
That 9.8 rating isn’t just random numbers — people genuinely love staying here, and after spending time in the area, I get why. The location scores consistently high because it hits that sweet spot of being accessible but not touristy. You’re close enough to hop into the Old Town when you want that medieval magic, but you can retreat to Lapad when you need to decompress. The restaurant scene in the neighborhood is more authentic too — places where locals actually eat, not just tourist traps with inflated prices.

Location was excellent. Very comfortable accommodation with easy access to Lapad and the Old Town. Plaza President beach was a real find.
What could be improved: A guest information folder containing local information about transport, beaches, restaurant recommendations, etc would be a welcome addition for the property.

At the Dubrovnik end of the Lapad peninsula, so cheaper to get to the Old Town by taxi (or 30 minutes walk if you go when the temperature is below 30C!
What could be improved: Few restaurants within walking distance.
Not on the bus route into town.
Great location. Very clean, modern, and comfortable accommodation. It was a bit of a walk to town but can be managed. Close to some spectacular beaches. Great host who was kind and helpful . Small supermarket down the road which had enough to keep a family going.. Delightful experience

It was very well appointed and had everything we needed. Comfortable beds.

The unit was very clean and convenient to nearby Dubrovnik old town. We walked to the old town from the unit. There were plenty of places to eat within about 1/2 kilometre.
What could be improved: The location is somewhat tricky to find especially at night when we arrived. It might be helpful to include a map and photos showing the parking location and entrance to the unit.

What could be improved: Everything was really good. Short drive to old town
The apartment looks better than in the photos! Loved that there were three air conditioners - one in each bedroom and one in the living room so that we all had our privacy. The bathroom in the larger bedroom is an en-suite while the smaller bedroom has its bathroom just outside the door. Great kitchen, one of the best equipped we’ve encountered whilst staying in apartments. Fabulous bathrooms and showers. Supremely comfortable beds. Everything in the apartment was very new and well maintained. Washing machine is in the laundry room just outside the front door which was convenient. Large drying rack with a huge terrace perfect for drying laundry. Partial sea view from the terrace. Covered parking spot in front of the apartment. Excellent communication with the host. Easy to get Ubers to and from the apartment to the Old Town for 5-12 Euros each way depending on time of day. Otherwise would have been a good 20 minute walk on mostly flat ground, totally doable except for when we were there during the heat wave in southern Europe. Overall wonderful stay and very good value for money!
