You know what struck me first about Apartment Ventula?
You know what struck me first about Apartment Ventula? It’s not just the sea view everyone raves about – though honestly, waking up to that stretch of Adriatic blue is pretty incredible. It’s actually how quiet the place feels despite being right in Ploce, which if you know Dubrovnik, is kind of miraculous. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the Old Town madness, but somehow this two-bedroom spot feels like you’ve found this perfect pocket of calm.
The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious – I’ve stayed in plenty of “two-bedroom” places in Croatia that feel like glorified hotel rooms, but this one actually breathes. The sea-facing bedroom gets this gorgeous morning light that sort of filters through in layers, and the kitchen is properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and hope for the best). What I really appreciated was the balcony setup – it’s got that perfect angle where you catch the sunset over the water without being blasted by afternoon sun. The owner, who I think lives somewhere nearby, was genuinely helpful with local tips. She told me about this little bakery on Frana Supila street that opens at 6 AM – saved my life when I needed decent coffee before the tourist spots opened.
Location-wise, you’re in that sweet spot where you can walk to everything but still escape it. Banje Beach is basically right there when you want to swim without the Lokrum ferry crowds, and there’s this path along the coast that takes you toward the cable car station – perfect for those evening walks when the city walls are all lit up. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to Dubrovnik), but there’s street parking nearby if you’re not afraid of narrow Croatian streets. The building itself is well-maintained, none of that crumbling Adriatic charm that looks romantic but means broken elevators. I stayed here in late September and it was blissfully quiet at night – just the sound of waves and the occasional late-night reveler stumbling back from Stradun. During peak summer I imagine it gets livelier, but the windows are solid and the AC actually works. For a four-star place, it delivers on the promise without any of those weird Croatian hotel quirks you sometimes get. If you want to feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it, this is your spot.
