You know what struck me first about Mariposa? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Ploče – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the understated entrance. But that’s actually perfect because you’re literally five minutes from the Old Town walls without dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your window. The morning I checked in, I could hear church bells echoing from the old city while having coffee on my balcony, which felt pretty magical.
The hotel itself has this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be fancy. I mean, it’s a solid 4-star place with that crisp white and blue aesthetic that works so well in Croatia. The rooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into your luggage every time you move around, and the air conditioning actually works – trust me, you’ll appreciate that in July. What I really loved was the attention to small details: proper blackout curtains (game-changer for jet lag), a rainfall shower that had decent water pressure, and – this might sound silly – but the bedside lighting was actually good enough to read by. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. When I asked about the best route to avoid the cruise ship crowds, the front desk guy drew me a little map showing the back streets locals use.
The location is honestly the star here though. You’re in this residential pocket where you can grab groceries at the small market around the corner, but you can also walk to Banje Beach in about ten minutes when you want to escape the stone streets for a bit. Parking was surprisingly manageable – they have a small lot, which is basically gold in Dubrovnik. The 9.3 rating makes total sense because it’s one of those places that just works without any drama. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything done right. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since the breakfast spread was actually decent (real coffee, not that instant stuff some places try to pass off) and the whole vibe felt more like staying in a well-run boutique place than a generic hotel chain.

Home like cosy apartment Beautiful, home-like apartment at an excellent location. The owner was extremely helpful, answered our questions immediately and made sure we had a pleasant stay. There are some stairs from the Old Town but this gives the property some isolation from the hustle and bustle in the Old Town. Highly recommended!
A nice and cozy place while in Dubrovnik. The property’s location is very close to Dubrovnik Old City, where the restaurants and port (to Lokrum Island, cruises, Cavtat etc). Banje Beach is few meters away too. The cable car is few stairs up and blocks away where the bus stop is also located. We pretty much go to or towards the old city for our breakfast, lunch and dinner.
When exploring Dubrovnik, you can’t avoid the stairs.
Geweldig! Het is een prachtig en zeer schoon appartement. Ook is de ligging perfect. Oude stad en strand op loopafstand.
De bed bank slaapt prima.
Ook de taxi-service naar het vliegveld was erg goed geregeld. En vooral…; een buitengewoon behulpzame en vriendelijke gastvrouw!

Appartement très bien placé et accueillant Appartement très bien placé à 3 minutes de marche (en côte) d’une des entrées de la vieille ville. C’est propre et climatisé, et les propriétaires sont sympathiques et flexibles.
Superb La localisation de l'appartement dans Dubrovnik est top: à proximité immédiate de tout, tout en étant dans une ruelle calme. Notre hôte s'est vraiment mise à notre disposition pour récupérer les clefs, répondre à nos questions, le départ... Soucieuse de notre bien-être et de notre séjour. L'appartement est très joli et très propre! Parfait pour une famille, même les escaliers de la ville pour y accéder n'étaient pas du tout une contrainte.
What could be improved: Seul mini bémol pour ceux que ça dérangent: il y a un puit de lumière dans le salon où est situé le canapé lit et le soleil se lève très tôt au mois d'août! ;)
