Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Lejletul? The address – Nikole Gučetića 2 – puts you right in the thick of Old Town, but it’s tucked away on one of those narrow stone streets that tourists usually rush past on their way to the main square. I mean, you’re literally living inside the medieval walls here, which sounds romantic until you realize your taxi can’t actually reach the door. But honestly, that’s part of the charm, and the quick walk through those ancient alleyways becomes routine faster than you’d think.

The apartments themselves have this wonderful lived-in quality that you don’t get at those sterile boutique hotels. The stone walls are thick – really thick – which means it stays cool even in July’s heat, though it also means your phone signal can be spotty (not necessarily a bad thing on vacation). What I loved most was waking up and hearing the daily rhythm of the old city: vendors setting up in the morning, church bells at noon, and that distinct sound of footsteps echoing off stone that becomes the soundtrack of your stay. The rooms are properly equipped too – none of that “kitchenette” nonsense where you can barely boil water. You’ve got real counter space and appliances that actually work, which came in handy when we grabbed fresh seafood from the market near the harbor.

Location-wise, you’re about a three-minute walk from Stradun, maybe five to the cathedral, and honestly, everything worth seeing is within stumbling distance. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, and they gave us these local tips that weren’t in any guidebook. Like how to avoid the cruise ship crowds (head out early or wait until after 4 PM) and which konoba serves the best peka without the tourist markup. The building itself has that authentic Dubrovnik feel – you know, where you duck through doorways and the stairs are worn smooth from centuries of use. It’s not luxury in the marble-and-gold sense, but it’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just observing it from behind hotel glass. Sure, dragging luggage up those stone steps isn’t fun, and the shower pressure could be better, but when you’re sipping wine on a balcony that overlooks terracotta rooftops with the Adriatic glittering in the distance, those minor inconveniences fade pretty quickly.

Reviews

  • Anne from United States – 16 May 2025 (9/10)

Nice location with no steps to reach the building. Steps inside to reach rooms. Air conditioner works well. Rooms were very spacious and both very different from each other. Both were clean and nice. The restaurant below, Taj Mahal is very good and we received a discount as guests of the apartment.

What could be improved: Old town is wonderful but if you want peace and quiet do not stay in old town. Noise did not bother me and only noticeable during dinner hours from restaurant below.

  • Danny1260 from Australia – 21 April 2025 (9/10)

Great location in the center of Old Town. Easy access to all the sites.

    What could be improved: Nil

  • Dino from Indonesia – 10 November 2024 (9/10)

Inside the old town, clean eventhough in the small alley (cause it is in the old town)

What could be improved: Had to bring the luggage up 2 storeys as it is a relatively small building/ apartment

  • Svjetlana from Switzerland – 27 October 2024 (9/10)

Our stay at the apartment in Dubrovnik was simply wonderful. The location is excellent, and the room was very well-maintained and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We had dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed an authentic, cozy atmosphere. The fine specialties were delicious and tasted fantastic. We highly recommend both the apartment and the restaurant.

    Best regards,
    Svjetlana and Bruno”

  • Tracy from Australia – 20 October 2024 (9/10)

Access to property was flat, and central to everything, and the staff were incredibly helpful with luggage and local tips. Gorgeous restaurant attached.

  • Jo from Australia – 19 October 2024 (9/10)

Marko and staff were fantastic. We were able to leave our luggage prior to check in and explore Old Town. Taj Mahal restaurant is situated below the accommodation.

  • Gennaro from United States – 14 October 2024 (10/10)

The hotel and restaurant on the ground level were absolutely first class. Marco was very professional and responsive to all of our needs. Communication was easy and everything was exactly as expected.

  • Kim from Australia – 7 October 2024 (10/10)

One of the most beautiful interiors of hotel room within Dubrovnik old town walls. Very spacious. Separate lounge area. Central location but a bit away from crowds. Excellent Bosnian restaurant downstairs where we ate twice. Excellent Bosnian coffee.

  • Keith from New Zealand – 6 October 2024 (8/10)

    Great location, large sunny room.

  • Hugh from United Kingdom – 6 October 2024 (8/10)

Great location. I was in the attic room, which was fun, and the apartment is above a Michelin Bosnian restaurant.

What could be improved: The most I paid for accommodation on my trip around Croatia and Bosnia, with the other places I stayed in offering more, but that’s Dubrovnik and why I only stayed one night.
