You know what? I almost walked right past Apartments Culina the first time I was looking for it on Padre Perice Street. It’s tucked into this quiet residential stretch that honestly feels more like where actual Dubrovnik locals live than the tourist-heavy areas closer to the Old Town walls. The building itself is pretty understated – sort of modern but not flashy – which I actually appreciated after dealing with some of the more touristy places in the city center.
Here’s the thing about this spot that really won me over: you’re close enough to walk to Pile Gate in about 10 minutes (I timed it), but you’re far enough away that you don’t hear the constant chatter of tour groups starting at 7 AM. The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious for a 3-star place – I mean, the kitchen actually has counter space where you can prep more than just instant coffee. The owner, who I think lives nearby, was genuinely helpful with local recommendations, not just the obvious stuff but like where to grab groceries without paying tourist prices (there’s a decent market just a few blocks toward Lapad). The whole setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying in a hotel, which can be either perfect or annoying depending on what you’re after.
What really sealed the deal for me was the neighborhood vibe. Most evenings, I’d hear families chatting on their balconies and kids playing in the small courtyard areas – real life happening around you, you know? The street gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, so if you’re someone who needs perfect silence to sleep, you’ll be happy. Parking was actually manageable here too, which… well, if you’ve tried to park anywhere near the Old Town, you’ll understand why that’s worth mentioning. The only minor downside I noticed was that the WiFi got a bit spotty during what I assume were peak hours, but honestly, being slightly disconnected in Dubrovnik isn’t the worst thing. For the price point and that 8.7 rating, I get why people keep coming back to this place – it’s got that sweet spot of being comfortable without trying too hard, close to everything without being in the thick of the chaos.

Une bonne étape dans notre rando v km L’accueil de la propriétaire. Comme l’appartement choisi n’avait pas de machine à laver nous avons pu faire notre lessive dans l’appart voisin qui n’était pas occupé. Le logement était propre et fonctionnel. Il y avait un peu de café, du sucre et des épices

Exceptional We had a wonderful time there. The apartment had everything we needed, very clean and the air conditioning was great. The outdoor patio was perfect to enjoy the summer evenings and our host and the neighbors were super friendly and welcoming.

Exceptional The host was helpful, and the apartment was clean. Everything you need was in place. But you need to be aware, if you are walking from the port side, it's a long stairs to climb up.
Great apartment in close proximity to many public transport services Spacious apartment with good facilities. Check in and check out were easy and the host was able to provide all information required about our stay. There was a bus station 2 minutes away which could take us to old town within 10 minutes (busses run every 30 minutes). Walking distance to ferry terminal and bus station, museums and other attractions. Apartment was clean and had all facilities we needed. Great value for money!
Convenient location and feels like home It was clean, secure, and spacious. The hosts did a very good job showing the apartment, and everything including coffee mugs and kitchen utensils were included.
What could be improved: It took a while to get there since you had to go up three streets from the harbor up a hill, but that also means that it was quiet at night and no one disturbed you. Flushing the toilet also was a bit awkward since the tank was mounted so high.
Amazing property, friendly family. It was the perfect size for two people. The family was amazing and so nice. They gave us some fresh vegetables from their garden which was amazing. There are kitties and two turtles that are outside. Also quite close to a few grocery stores which was lovely.
What could be improved: It is quite the hike to the apartment from the bus/ train station and from old city. It is doable, but there are a lot of stairs.
Exceptional My lovely host Paulina could not do enough for me. Local information, veg from her garden. It was big and roomy. Close to the harbour and all things related to getting around Dubrovnik.
