First Impressions

Walking up to Apartments Lazarin on a quiet street in Ploče, you immediately get that “I found something special” feeling. This four-star property sits in what locals consider the sweet spot of Dubrovnik — close enough to everything that matters, but tucked away from the tourist chaos that can honestly get overwhelming during peak season. The building itself has that understated Croatian elegance, and you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a long day of sightseeing.

The Perfect Ploče Location

Here’s the thing about staying in Ploče — you’re basically getting the best of both worlds. I mean, you can walk to the Old Town walls in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the constant stream of cruise ship crowds right outside your window. The apartment complex sits on Lazarina street, which is actually one of those residential areas where you’ll see locals going about their daily business. There’s something really authentic about grabbing morning coffee from the nearby café and chatting with residents who’ve lived here for decades.

What Makes These Apartments Work

The apartments themselves are thoughtfully designed — not flashy, but everything you actually need is there. Each unit comes with a proper kitchen, which honestly saves you a fortune when you’re staying in Dubrovnik (those restaurant prices can add up fast). The spaces feel more like temporary homes than hotel rooms, and there’s enough storage that you can actually unpack your suitcase properly. I particularly appreciated the attention to details like good lighting and reliable Wi-Fi — small things that make a huge difference when you’re trying to plan your days or just relax in the evening.

Getting Around and Practical Stuff

One thing that surprised me was how easy it is to navigate from here. The main bus routes are just a short walk away, and if you’re renting a car, parking in this area is actually manageable (which, trust me, is not something you can say about most of Dubrovnik). The property management is responsive too — when I had a question about local bus schedules, they didn’t just point me to a tourist map, they actually gave me the kind of insider tips that locals use.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

With a 9.3 rating, it’s clear that Apartments Lazarin hits the mark for most visitors, and I can see why couples especially love it here. There’s something romantic about having your own space in this historic city, being able to pick up fresh ingredients from the local market and cook dinner together while planning the next day’s adventures. The location score of 9.2 isn’t just a number — it reflects that rare balance of accessibility and tranquility that’s honestly hard to find in popular destinations like Dubrovnik. You’re staying somewhere that feels authentically Croatian while still having easy access to all the must-see sights.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Dubrovnik near Ploce Gate for easy beach walks, artist studios, and jazz-ready courtyards.

I stayed at this apartment and absolutely loved it! The place was beautiful and mesmerizing, with stunning views of the sea and Dubrovnik’s Old Town. While there are quite a few stairs to climb to reach the apartment, it’s completely worth it for the view and experience—just something to keep in mind for those with mobility issues.

The apartment itself had everything I needed, and I think it’s one of the best places to stay in Dubrovnik. The owner was incredibly kind and responsive throughout my stay. I would highly recommend booking this apartment—you won’t regret it!

Fantastic shower
Very comfortable bed
Spotless
Perfect location
Views are spectacular from the balcony
Perfect location for the bus stop and cable car

What could be improved: The apartment is on the 4th floor, no lift, to get to the apartment block there are a lot of steps, didn't bother us but if your not very fit this isn't the place for you

The apartment is very well equipped with a kitchenette and washing machine. The views from the balcony over the old town are spectacular.

What could be improved: There are a lot of steps to climb, so it’s not suitable for people with large suitcases or mobility issues.

Beautiful view (best I had). Only a short (10 min) walk from Dubrovnik old town. Extremely well equipped kitchen (pans, pots, cutlery and dishwasher). With a shop nearby. Easy check in and check out. Really quiet.

Fantastic apartment , modern, clean, amazing views from the south facing balcony across the sea and the old town

What could be improved: The apartment was roughly a 10 minute walk out of the old town but that suited us as we like a stroll and the sunny location and amazing views were favourable to us. There are a lot of steps up to the apartment so if you struggle with mobility this may not be a good location.

Apartment was great with all the facilities need and the memorable view from the balcony.

What could be improved: Too many stairs but can be managed for the breathtaking view from the apartment if physically fit and with less luggage.

Nice & tidy apartment. Cute kitchen. Nice bathroom and good water pressure in the shower. Beautiful view of Dubrovnik & the ocean from the living area and the bedroom. Nice patio to sit out on whenever you’re at the apartment and watch the sunset. Only a 15 min walk from the old town walls. Nice, kind, responsive host. Across the road from a beach which is free access for swimming. Beautiful restaurant there too

What could be improved: Note for travellers: (particularly to long term travellers with large suitcases) there is a lot of stairs. We accessed from the road (Google maps) and there was 4 lots of concrete stairs to get up, then a landing, then concrete stairs going down, then in the apartment building another 4 flights of stairs to get up to the apartment.

Note for driving travellers: if you are driving a car - the listing says “parking available”. We parked in the carpark in town as recommended, this was a 1km walk with the luggage. And it is £5 an hour. So for 2 nights cost us £300. Just about as much as the accomodation and more than the cost of the car rental for 7 days. Did not expect this, thought there would be a discounted rate for staying in local accomodation or it would max out as a certain amount per day but no such luck. In accomodation elsewhere the host were kind enough to give us their “residence” card so we could park for free.

Wonderful balcony with a beautiful view. Close to hhe old Town and Banje beach. Facilities were excellant & our host went above and beyond to let us in early. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Could not have been a better location for us, specifically w the proximity to the old city, restaurants, stores etc. the view stole the show…spectacular.

The apartment was very clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped.

Also, our contact was very responsive and hospitable.

What could be improved: The negative to the property is the number of stairs, to get to the building and then four flights up. Thankfully, the owner has provided a contact for porter services which is worth it.
Also a challenge is actually finding the building; however once in the apartment, well worth the challenge.
