The Experience

Apartments Lovro & Lena

You know what really struck me about Apartments Lovro & Lena?

You know what really struck me about Apartments Lovro & Lena? The fact that you’re literally living inside Dubrovnik’s Old Town walls without feeling like you’re in some tourist trap. I mean, Kovačka ulica is this narrow stone street that most people just walk past on their way to the main square, but honestly – that’s exactly what makes it perfect.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious for Old Town standards, and Lovro (yeah, you’ll probably meet him during check-in) actually knows the building’s history going back centuries. The stone walls are thick enough that you don’t hear every conversation from the street, which is saying something because those medieval lanes can echo like crazy during peak season. What I loved most was stepping out in the morning and grabbing coffee from that little place on Stradun before the cruise ship crowds hit around 10 AM. You’re maybe a two-minute walk from Rector’s Palace, but tucked away enough that you can actually get some sleep – well, except during the summer festival when things get pretty lively until late.

The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you spend a few days there. Everything just… works. The WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places in the old stone buildings, the air conditioning actually cools the place down (trust me, you’ll need it in July), and Lena left these incredibly detailed notes about everything from the washing machine quirks to which bakery opens earliest. I particularly appreciated the heads-up about parking – apparently there’s a spot near Pile Gate that locals use, but you have to know to ask about it. The kitchen setup is pretty complete too, though honestly, with all the restaurants within stumbling distance, I mostly just used it for morning coffee and keeping wine cold. One thing that caught me off guard was how quiet it gets at night once the day-trippers head back to their cruise ships – you’re left with this almost magical stillness that you just don’t expect in such a bustling area.

If you’re debating between this and some hotel outside the walls, just go with Lovro & Lena. Sure, you’ll pay a bit more, but there’s something about falling asleep to the sound of your own footsteps echoing off 600-year-old stones that you can’t get anywhere else. Plus, when you want to walk the city walls at sunrise (do this, seriously), you’re already inside – no trudging up from Lapad or waiting for buses. The whole experience feels less like staying in accommodation and more like borrowing a friend’s place who happens to live in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

excellent location in the old city. Quiet at night.

What could be improved: a guide that explains the appliances. Symbols on oven are not clear.

The apartment was very comfortable with plenty of space for two people. The location was great too. Not too far into the old city and no stairs to access the building front door.

What could be improved: Nothing

Perfect location for our first time to Dubrovnik. Located in Old Town, steps away from the Stradun (the main street). The apartment was bright, modern, clean and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed (even a Nespresso). We had excellent communication with our host. Highly recommended.

What could be improved: Be aware it is a ten minute walk from the car drop off point since cars are not allowed in the Old Town.

We had a lovely stay at Zelenci Apartments. The apartment is clean and spacious. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary utilities. Lot of towels and toilet paper in the bathroom. Free wifi and air condition. The owner is super kind and made our stay unforgettable. Thank you Vlaho for everything!

We have stayed in many Booking properties and I have to say, this apartment had one of the best locations EVER! It was about 10m from the Sponza Palace in the very heart of Dubrovnik. This location made it possible for us to go exploring early, go back to the apartment midday to rest, then venture out in the evening. A 2 min walk to the Old Port, all the major sights were extremely close. The apartment itself was clean and large with a big bed and living room area. Highly recommended.

What could be improved: You must be aware of three things when staying at this apartment:
1) It is on the second floor (third floor if you are from America) with no elevator
2) As stated earlier, the location is fantastic, but because it is so close to all of Dubrovnik's major sites, there is some noise. We used our White Noise app on our phone to drown in it out so it wasn't a problem.
3) Parking is offsite. I mean REALLY offsite. We had to take a 10 euro Uber to get to the apartment from the parking garage, so this place is recommended for people who don't have a car, or don't plan to use the car for day trips (like us).

Everyone has their own priorities, but for us, these things were minor compared to the unbelievable location you get in this beautiful town of Dubrovnik.
