Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Apartments Novak – this place punches way above its three-star rating, and honestly, I think that’s exactly why it works so well. You know how sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that don’t try too hard? That’s what you get here on Bruna Bušića street.
First thing that hit me was how quiet it actually is, considering you’re still properly in Dubrovnik. I mean, you’re not stuck way out in some suburban wasteland, but you’re also not dealing with the constant buzz of cruise ship crowds tramping past your window at 7 AM. The apartments themselves feel like someone’s stylish Croatian aunt decided to rent out her spare rooms – everything’s clean and functional, but there’s actual personality in the details. The kitchenettes are small but they work (I managed to make decent coffee every morning, which is my personal litmus test), and the bathrooms have that satisfying European efficiency where everything fits perfectly without feeling cramped.
What really sold me, though, was the location knowledge you pick up just by staying here. The locals at the little café around the corner – I think it’s called something like Kod Mije, but don’t quote me – they actually remember your order after a couple days. And here’s the thing about Ploče that most tourists miss: you’re walking distance from the old town walls, but you’re approaching from the less touristy side, which means you skip half the crowds and get better photos. Plus, there’s this bakery about three minutes away that opens ridiculously early, perfect for grabbing pastries before the day heats up. The woman running Apartments Novak mentioned it during check-in (which was refreshingly straightforward, by the way – none of that hotel lobby performance), and she was absolutely right about their burek.
I stayed during shoulder season in late September, so I can’t speak to peak summer craziness, but parking was never a nightmare, and the whole neighborhood had this lived-in feeling that made me understand why people fall in love with Croatia beyond just the Instagram shots. The apartment walls are thick enough that I never heard neighbors, though you do get some street noise if you leave windows open – nothing terrible, just normal city sounds. Honestly, for a 9-rated place that doesn’t cost a fortune, you’re getting authentic Dubrovnik living without the tourist tax that comes with staying inside the old city walls. It’s the kind of spot where you actually feel like you’re experiencing the place rather than just passing through it.

A beautiful apartment, the location is perfect for exploring Dubrovnik, but quiet at night! About 10 minutes walk down to either the cable car or the city.
Gorgeous views, and has everything you could need for your stay. Was so clean, the bed really comfortable, sun loungers outside, shower great. Honestly can't fault it, and if we return to Dubrovnik, it will be our first choice.Clare from United Kingdom – 7 October 2024 (9/10)
Communication with the host was prompt, efficient and welcoming. He has been very accommodating.
The photos and description are spot-on.
We were greeted by Ivan who was friendly and helpful and spent time with us on arrival to help us get our bearings and made some excellent recommendations and always on hand to answer questions.
The view is EXCEPTIONAL. Arguably the best view of the old town available. The terrace is sunny most of the day and is great for watching the sunset.
There's a nearby supermarket (note- not open on Sunday) with an excellent bakery and a friendly bar. The town is within a few minutes walk and the cable car is just up the road.
We were picked up for a day trip outside the bar and the airport shuttle leaves from the cable car stop.
What could be improved: Really only the stairs! But without them we wouldn't have the view.
It's best to know in advance that there are 9 flights so we were pleased we only had hand luggage 😉Maxine from United Kingdom – 16 September 2024 (9/10)
Everything! The host was friendly and accommodating. The size of the apartment and balcony is just amazing. It was clean and had everything you needed. And the view is even better than it looks into the photos. Also had great working aircon. I would highly recommend this place.

The most stunning view, as per the photos! Sitting on the patio (only one neighbouring patio) with such an expanse of sea, watching boats and ships, sipping wine, looking down at the Old Town -good for the soul! There are sun loungers but August sun and pale Irish skin… Others would benefit from them. The air con was a life saver, the bed large and extremely comfortable. Plenty of hot water and we drank the tap water. Small hairdryer provided, as were towels, soap, shower gel, lots of toilet paper, bed linen, tea towel, wash up liquid and scrub, bin bags and some condiments like oil and salt. Lots of wardrobe space with hangers. Comfortable sofa with TV. We took our fire stick for viewing during the hottest hours. The beach is very close (lots of steps) and it was fabulous to dip into the water and be able to be back in the apartment in minutes. Supermarket and cafe bar a stone's throw away. A fast food outlet is a short walk, very handy for our late arrival from the airport on day 1. A short walk to the Old Town. We enjoyed Castello restaurant and for night life, on one night, we went to one of The Gaff Irish bars where there was live music and a good crowd and the Kellie Harrington fight showing. The apartment is in a lovely quiet residential area. Drivers can be fast and loud at times. Host was very nice and helpful. Met us on arrival and departure and organised airport transfers. Seamless. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartment.
What could be improved: Difficult to say anything negative. We got by but be aware that the kitchen area is very small. Sink, two ring hob, fridge and kettle. Cutlery, saucepans etc provided. No toaster but we made toast in a frying pan. No microwave. If you like breakfast tea, take teabags from home.Maxine from United Kingdom – 18 July 2024 (9/10)
The view from the terrace was amazing. Perfect location only 7-8 minute walk to Dubrovnik Old Town.
Jane from United Kingdom – 14 May 2024 (9/10)
The view from the terrace was amazing.
Easy walk into the Old City
Nearby supermarket, bars and restaurants.
Wear good shoes – lots of hills and steps in the city, and the apartment is a few flights up!Agnė from Lithuania – 3 May 2024 (9/10)
Helpful hosts, spacious apartment with a really huge terrace and a nice view. Old town is very near, only 10-15 minutes walk (a fair amount of stairs included, though).
James from United Kingdom – 21 April 2024 (9/10)
Fantastic terrace…. Lovely mid-century modern vibe in the apartment and whole building.. very stylish
What could be improved: Maybe a lot of steps for old people but most people will manage just fine… it’s worth it for the viewChris from United States – 21 October 2023 (9/10)
The property has a great view! The terrece was spacious and the be was comfortable. the apartment had enough room for 3 people,
What could be improved: The smell in the bathroom. The toilet is older and there is a smell from the bowl.Paula from Portugal – 14 October 2023 (9/10)
Great location, stunning views, close to the old town
