Apartments Paula – One Bedroom Apartment with Shared Terrace
Look, I've stayed in plenty of Dubrovnik accommodations over the years, and Apartments Paula hit that sweet spot I'm always searching for – you know, where you feel like you're actually living somewhere instead of just passing through.
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Dubrovnik accommodations over the years, and Apartments Paula hit that sweet spot I’m always searching for – you know, where you feel like you’re actually living somewhere instead of just passing through. The one-bedroom setup with the shared terrace might sound modest on paper, but honestly? It’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to experience this city properly.
The apartment itself is clean and well-maintained (which, let me tell you, isn’t always a given at this price point), and while it’s not fancy, everything works. The kitchen has enough space to prepare breakfast or pack lunches before heading out to explore – something I actually ended up doing more than I expected since eating out for every meal in Dubrovnik can get pricey fast. But here’s the thing that really won me over: that shared terrace. I was initially skeptical about the “shared” part, but it never felt crowded, and there’s something really nice about having your morning coffee out there while listening to the city wake up below. You get glimpses of the Adriatic between the buildings, and honestly, after a day of fighting crowds in the Old Town, coming back to that quiet space felt like finding a hidden sanctuary.
What struck me most was how Paula (the host) actually seemed to care about making sure guests had what they needed. Check-in was smooth, she gave solid recommendations for restaurants that weren’t total tourist traps, and when I had a question about bus schedules, she didn’t just shrug it off. The location works really well too – you’re close enough to walk to Stradun and the main sights without feeling like you’re in the middle of the chaos. I mean, you’ll still hear some street noise during the day, but it’s not the kind of thing that keeps you awake at night. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (welcome to Dubrovnik), but there are options nearby if you’re willing to walk a few minutes.
The whole experience just felt… authentic, I guess? Like staying with someone who knows the city rather than checking into some sterile hotel room. The terrace became my favorite spot for planning the next day’s adventures or just unwinding with a local wine after climbing the city walls. Sure, it’s not luxury – the bathroom’s compact and the Wi-Fi occasionally had moments – but for a 3-star place, it delivers way more character and value than most. If you’re the type of traveler who appreciates genuine hospitality over fancy amenities, and you want to experience Dubrovnik like someone who actually lives there rather than just touring through, this place gets it right.

What Our Guests Say
GREAT Clean , safe close to old town! Super nice host!!!
Superb Fantastic location. Close to Pile Gate (entrance to the city and meeting point for excursions), but in a quiet environment.
The host is very friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Boiler was a bit small for a family of 4, but that's easily solved with a bit of planning (or in theory taking short showers).
