You know what struck me first about the Apartments Sisic? The terrace. I mean, honestly, half the “terraces” you see in Dubrovnik listings are basically glorified balconies where you can barely fit a chair, but this one’s actually got space to breathe. I found myself having morning coffee out there every single day, looking out over the Lapad peninsula while the city was still waking up.

The apartment itself feels like staying in someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room – which makes sense since it’s family-run. The bedroom’s got this cozy, lived-in vibe with solid wooden furniture that’s clearly been there for years (in a good way). The kitchen’s compact but totally functional if you’re planning to cook – I grabbed some fresh fish from the market near Gruž port and made dinner a couple nights. Storage space is pretty generous too, which you don’t always get in these older Dubrovnik buildings. One small thing though – the shower pressure’s a bit weak, but honestly, after walking around the old town walls in July heat, I wasn’t exactly picky.

What really sold me on this place was the Lapad location. Look, everyone thinks they need to stay right in the old town, but trust me – you’ll want to escape those crowds and tourist prices. Lapad’s got this relaxed, residential feel where you’ll actually hear Croatian being spoken on the streets. There’s a gorgeous pebble beach about a ten-minute walk away (way less crowded than Banje), and the bus to Pile Gate runs every fifteen minutes or so. The family who runs the place – the Sisics – are genuinely helpful without being hovering. They’ll point you toward the good konoba that locals actually eat at, not the tourist traps. Plus, parking’s way easier here if you’re renting a car to explore the coast. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra two nights because, well, why rush back to reality when you’ve got a terrace and the Adriatic breeze?
