La Vita e Bella II
You know what?
You know what? I almost walked right past La Vita e Bella II the first time I was looking for it on Zamanjina Street – it’s tucked into the Old Town in this unassuming way that honestly makes it feel more authentic than those flashy places right on Stradun. The entrance is pretty subtle, which I actually loved because it means you’re not dealing with crowds of tourists constantly wandering through your hotel lobby taking photos.
The location is… well, it’s kind of perfect if you want to be in the thick of things but still be able to escape when the day-trippers get overwhelming. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Rector’s Palace, and I mean literally – I timed it because I’m weird like that. But here’s the thing nobody tells you about staying in the Old Town: those ancient stone streets can be murder on your feet after a long day, so having a comfortable place to crash that’s not a twenty-minute uphill climb to your room is actually clutch. The hotel sits in this quieter section where you’ll hear the occasional group walking by, but it’s nothing like the chaos near the main square. I was worried about noise, honestly, but once you’re inside, the thick walls do their job – probably been keeping sound out for centuries.
The rooms have this interesting mix of old-world charm without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum. The stone details are gorgeous, and they’ve managed to fit in modern amenities without making everything feel forced or fake. I mean, the WiFi actually works well (tested it on multiple video calls), and the air conditioning is a godsend in summer – trust me on this one, July in Dubrovnik is no joke. What really got me was the attention to smaller details… like, the bathroom actually has good water pressure, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places in historic buildings totally fail at this. The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a rock, which honestly has happened to me in other Croatian hotels.
The staff seemed to genuinely know the area – not just the obvious tourist spots, but they pointed me toward this little bakery about five minutes away that locals actually go to for morning coffee. That kind of local knowledge is gold when you’re trying to experience a place beyond the Instagram highlights. The 8.2 rating feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers on the fundamentals really well. If you’re someone who wants to be walking distance from everything important in Old Town Dubrovnik without paying resort prices or dealing with massive tour groups in your lobby every morning, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

What Our Guests Say
The room was nice and very central, no big amounts of stairs to get to this one. The shower was great and the complimentary water and toiletries were a nice touch.
What could be improved: The room was very small, fine for me but for 2 maybe a bit too small. My room wasn’t cleaned / new towels in my 5 night stay despite arranging a date and time for this.
What could be improved: stairs!
What could be improved: Walked us to our room
The location was PERFECT literally in the main square just some steps up. The hotel was so modern and clean, amenities amazing, big shower, comfy bed, great amount of space in the room, the slippers are AMAZING. Loved that it was a hotel but gave private apartment feels since the reception isn’t in the same building.
What could be improved: LOTS of stairs, even in the building that wind up. Reception isn’t in the building but close by. The bathroom sink was clogged and the water would take forever to drain.
All terrific
Great communication
What could be improved: Nothing
The room was lovely well decorated with a great view of the Dubrovnik rooftops! The bath tub was a fun addition!
What could be improved: The emails before the visit specifically did not offer luggage service and the day of got an email offering the service! It took time and extra money to solve that problem before arriving. We did use their luggage service which was great. Communication was not good. Directions on how to enter the city would be helpful as lots of steps are a part of the journey.
Great location, easy check in, nice design
What could be improved: Shower could have been cleaner
Steep pricepoint, but its right in the oldtown of Dubrovnik
great location
What could be improved: Dubrovnik is full of steps, they’re unavoidable unfortunately
The value for money on this place compared to other apartments in Croatia was 10/10! The room was luxurious and modern. The location in the old town was also very convenient.
