First Impressions
Walking up to Big & Cute on Ulica Petra Preradovića, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but this four-star property in Dubrovnik’s Lapad peninsula completely won me over. The building has this charming residential feel that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a typical tourist hotel. You know what really caught my attention? There’s actual parking right on site, which anyone who’s driven around Dubrovnik will tell you is basically like finding gold.
Location & Neighborhood
Lapad is honestly one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often overlook — and that’s exactly what makes it special. You’re about a 15-minute bus ride from Old Town (the buses run frequently), but here you get to experience Dubrovnik without the cruise ship crowds. The area feels authentically Croatian, with families walking their dogs and neighbors chatting on balconies. I mean, you can actually hear the sea from most parts of the hotel, and there are some lovely walking paths along the coast that hardly any guidebooks mention.
The Room Experience
My room was surprisingly spacious — and I say surprising because Croatian coastal hotels can sometimes feel a bit cramped. The décor strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and local character, nothing too fancy but everything you actually need. The air conditioning works properly (trust me, this matters in summer), and the Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re in a residential area where life continues around you.
Daily Life at the Hotel
The staff here genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing — they’re not just going through the motions like at some of the bigger properties. Breakfast isn’t elaborate, but it’s fresh and includes local touches that make you feel connected to where you are. There’s a small restaurant area where you can grab simple meals, though honestly, being in Lapad means you’re surrounded by family-run konobas (taverns) that serve incredible seafood at prices that won’t shock you.
Why Guests Love It
This place works especially well for couples — there’s something about the intimate scale and peaceful setting that creates the right atmosphere for a romantic getaway. The 9.3 rating makes complete sense when you experience how everything just flows smoothly here. You’re close enough to Dubrovnik’s main attractions that you never feel isolated, but far enough away that you can actually relax and enjoy each other’s company. Plus, having reliable parking means you can easily explore the wider region — Cavtat, the Pelješac peninsula, even day trips to Montenegro become much more manageable when you’re not wrestling with Old Town’s parking situation.
Early hotels booking in Dubrovnik secures private wall tours, island-hopping charters, and chef’s table dinners in hidden konobas.

What Our Guests Say
Clean, lots of day light, spacious
What could be improved: WiFi was very weak, if you had to do work online, it’s not going to work. Needs a Starlink system.
The apartment was impeccable. Huge, beautiful, clean and comfortable. The apartment building is brand new, they were just finishing the garage when we arrived. The apartment has all new everything - new furniture, bed, kitchen amenities - everything is new. There's a huge laundry room with washer AND dryer (almost unheard of) and the kitchen was stocked with every gadget you could ever want/need. A true chef's kitchen. Lots of storage, even an office area. The terrace has a brand new hot tub, sofa and chair with great views over Port Gruz.
The location was excellent! We didn't realize that it's nearly impossible to drive in Dubrovnik - or at least park. Ana was awesome and told us how to get around the best way. Uber into Old Town was about 6€ but the bus stop is a 2-3 minute walk and it's less than 1€ - we never took the bus but it was supposedly a great way to get around. We also walked to Port Gruz which was only about a 10 minute walk and were able to get on a tour to the islands, which I highly recommend.
Our last day we explored more of the area of the apartment and were disappointed in ourselves for not doing so earlier. The area has everything you could possibly want or need. Tons of restaurants, markets, parks and proximity to the Port made it the best location in the area. Staying in Old Town limits you.
I would absolutely stay here again. We even extended our stay as long as possible until the next guest were arriving.
Absolute Empfehlung !
