Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Blue Horizon Apartments? The name actually makes sense – you really do get these glimpses of the Adriatic through the trees from some of the upper floors, and there’s something about the way the building sits on Miha Mrnarevića Street that feels refreshingly removed from the tourist chaos while still being totally walkable to everything. I mean, Lapad isn’t exactly a hidden gem anymore, but this particular stretch still has that neighborhood feel where you’ll see locals heading to the market in the morning rather than just cruise ship passengers with their rolling suitcases.

The apartments themselves are honestly better than I expected for a 3-star place – they’ve got that clean, unfussy Croatian approach where everything works properly without being fancy about it. The kitchenettes are actually functional (I made coffee every morning and even attempted some pasta one night), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t be cursing the shower pressure. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, which is sort of rare in Dubrovnik proper. The street doesn’t get much through traffic, and the building itself seems well-insulated – though I’d still request a room facing away from the main road if you’re a light sleeper. The air conditioning worked perfectly during my July stay, which… well, if you’ve been to Dubrovnik in summer, you know that’s not always a given.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture: you’re about a 15-minute walk to Lapad Beach (the pebbly bit that’s actually swimmable), and there’s this little path through the residential area that locals use to cut down to the water. The bus stop for the #6 line is literally two minutes away, and that’ll get you to the Old Town in about 15 minutes for less than the price of a coffee. I actually preferred staying out here because you get to decompress from the Old Town madness – and honestly, after spending a day dodging tour groups on the Stradun, coming back to a quiet apartment where you can grab a beer from your own fridge feels like luxury. The front desk staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just polite, and check-in was smooth even though I arrived pretty late on a Friday. If you’re planning to explore beyond Dubrovnik – maybe day trips to Korčula or Montenegro – this is a solid base that won’t break the budget but still gives you that “I’m staying somewhere nice” feeling.

  • Exceptional – Marina from Finland – 29 June 2024 (10/10)

We had a wonderful time in Dubrovnik. A beautiful city, an amazing sea and, of course, staying in Blue Horizon Apartments.

I'd recommend everyone to stay in Blue Horizon Apartments. A quiet area, Old Town within walking distance, a beach and 2 glocery stores nearby. The appartment has everything you need to stay there even for a long time. A friendly dog, a rabbit, neighbor's cats coming to the garden, little turtles were a highlight for us. 🙂

The juice, cherries and coffee offered to us by Stane when we arrived at the appartment after a long journey was a very pleasant moment for us. Stane’s advice on where to go in Dubrovnik and how to get there helped us a lot.

Stane and her family are very friendly. Stane is a super host! We felt like at home. Thank you, Stane and your family, so much for this!

  • Highly recommend! Would definitely stay again. – Prudence from Australia – 31 May 2024 (10/10)

Stane the host was beyond amazing. We got in late, around midnight but she was still up waiting for us to welcome us in. So friendly and helpful with information of our surroundings. Easy 15min walk to old town, with cafes, cool bars and a couple beaches along the route. Also nice and quiet location. Felt very safe in this area.

Our host Stane was such a lovely lady that made us feel very much at home. The appartment was big and comfortable with everything we needed for a good stay. It's located at a very good place to walk into Dubrovnik within 10 minutes or go for a nice walk around the neighbourhood.

  • Amazing host, great location, cosy – Kevin from United Kingdom – 19 October 2023 (10/10)

Kind and helpful host (with friendly dog and rabbit). Great parking space, sea view terrace and a short walk down to a main road to catch the number 4 bus direct to the old town-2 Euros. Compact and cosy apartment with everything you need. You could walk the bus route with sea views but there is plenty of walking to be done.

  • Exceptional – Eva from Czech Republic – 7 October 2023 (10/10)

Very nice place and hospitable family.
