Bota Palace
You know what struck me first about Bota Palace?
You know what struck me first about Bota Palace? The moment you walk through those heavy wooden doors, there’s this immediate sense of stepping back in time – but in the best possible way. I mean, when you’re staying literally on Široka ulica in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, you’re basically living inside a UNESCO World Heritage site, and this place actually does it justice. The stone walls aren’t just for show here; they’re the real deal, thick medieval limestone that keeps everything blissfully cool even when August heat is bouncing off the marble streets outside.
The thing about staying right in the heart of the Old Town is that you’re either going to love the authenticity or hate the tourist chaos – honestly, Bota Palace manages to give you the former while buffering you from the latter. Your room windows might look out onto ancient alleyways where you can hear the clip-clop of early morning deliveries (those little trucks somehow navigate these narrow streets), but the soundproofing is surprisingly solid. I actually slept through most of the night-time revelry from the bars near Stradun, which is saying something. The rooms themselves have this perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort – think exposed stone walls but with excellent air conditioning and wifi that actually works (crucial when you’re trying to upload all those sunset photos from the city walls).
What really sets this place apart, though, is the staff’s local knowledge. The front desk doesn’t just hand you a generic map; they’ll tell you to hit the city walls at 7 AM before the cruise ship crowds arrive, or point you toward that little bakery on Od Puča where locals actually get their morning coffee. And here’s something you won’t find in the guidebooks – they’ll arrange parking for you at the Pile Gate lot and actually escort you with your luggage through the pedestrian-only streets, which is a godsend when you’re dealing with cobblestones and suitcase wheels. The location means you’re a two-minute walk from the Rector’s Palace and maybe five minutes from the harbor, but tucked away enough that you’re not drowning in the daytime crowds that flood the main thoroughfares. Plus, there’s something magical about stepping out your door for a late-night stroll when the Old Town belongs to just a handful of people and the limestone glows under the streetlights.

What could be improved: Nothing
It was extremely clean, updated, and had great amenities and in a great location. Service was impeccable.
What could be improved: It was noisy due to location, but we knew that going in and it really did not prevent a great nights sleep as it quieted down overnight.
Central location, elegant palace, fantastic rooms, very friendly service
Location and overall quality
What could be improved: Stairs
This might be one of the best hotels we've stayed in. We booked the studio apartment and it was more like having a home away from home. Location is in the middle of everything you could possibly want to see in Old Town and was on the flat portion of town so you didn't need to climb a hill at the end of each day just to get back to your room. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home and relaxed. Breakfast is brought to your room every morning with lots of great options and they made every effort to make sure we were looked after even after experiencing a small hiccup during our trip. The rooms are extremely clean and beautifully designed and there were so many details like Rituals products, slippers, toiletries, a hairdryer and straightener, and even a shaving kit! Mary and Karla were both amazing and so helpful, we would definitely stay here again.
What could be improved: It can get a little noisy since you're in the center of town but we slept through most of it since we were exhausted from exploring every day.
The location was amazing, the Main Street right on your door step. Everything about this hotel even the little touches was amazing. No question was too silly for Carla to answer. The breakfast was also very good.
What could be improved: The only issue I would say is the noise from the bars downstairs, that being said isn’t really the hotels fault; ear plugs are supplied but again there’s nothing they can do about the live music and drunk crowds walking past early hours.
Beautiful place to stay right in the heart of the old town. Location was amazing and so convenient. Can be a little noisy at night but as to be expected for being in the old town, accommodation provided ear plugs which helped. We would stay here again 5* room and service.
Amazing location in Old Town. Beautiful room and comfortable bed. The breakfast was lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful, including responsive to issues. We also used their airport transfer service which was helpful and made for a smooth trip. Would highly recommend.
What could be improved: Air con didn’t seem to work so was noisy in the early morning if windows were open.
The location is superb looking out onto the Main Street in the Old Town, the palace has been beautifully restored with everything having been thought through very well. The breakfast is lovely each morning and served at a time of your choosing. The bed is extremely comfy too! So the only real downside is the noise from outside from around 5am onwards but that is out of the Bota Palace’s control as it is the same for everyone who lives there due to the building restrictions on the UNESCO world heritage site. We were informed about this and frankly the comfort, service and location more than make up for it. We’d highly recommend.
