We had a truly wonderful stay at Hotel Stari Grad. We arrived well before the usual check‑in time, yet our room was already prepared, which set the tone for the whole visit. The suite was spotlessly clean, spacious, and extremely comfortable, and the hotel’s location in the heart of Dubrovnik couldn’t have been better.
Because we were settled in so quickly, we decided to take a half‑day Elaphiti Islands tour with Lowin Boat—and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The cruise was absolutely beautiful: our friendly captain guided us to hidden coves and shared stories that revealed Dubrovnik’s natural magic.
After the tour we went straight to the Above 5 rooftop restaurant. Every dish was delicious and flawlessly presented. The chef, who has worked in Michelin‑starred kitchens, personally introduced the menu and shared his culinary journey, while our waiter delivered warm, professional service.
From the early check‑in to the last bite of dessert, the staff were flawless—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. We loved every moment and can’t wait to return for an even longer stay.
What could be improved: Everything was perfect.

First Impressions
Walking through the ancient stone streets of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, you might almost miss Boutique Hotel Stari Grad — and that’s exactly what makes it special. Tucked away on Od Sigurate street, this four-star gem feels like a well-kept secret that locals would rather not share with tourists. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s honestly hard to find in Dubrovnik during peak season.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about staying in the Old Town — most places either put you right in the chaos of Stradun or so far up the hillside that you’re huffing and puffing every time you come home. This place gets it right. You’re literally in the heart of everything, but on a quiet side street where you can actually sleep at night. I mean, couples give the location a 9.9 rating, and after staying here, I get why. You can stumble back from dinner at Proto or Nautika in about three minutes, but you won’t hear the late-night revelry from your room.
The Rooms and Comfort
The rooms here strike that perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort — you know, old stone walls but actually good Wi-Fi and air conditioning that works. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to soundproof everything despite being in a centuries-old building. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and honestly, after a day of walking Dubrovnik’s marble streets, that’s all you really need. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, which isn’t always a given in boutique properties.
Practical Perks
Here’s something that’ll save you a headache — they actually have private parking available. If you’ve ever tried to navigate a car through Dubrovnik’s Old Town (spoiler alert: you can’t), you’ll understand why this is huge. Most hotels just shrug and tell you to figure it out yourself. The staff here actually knows the city well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward some fantastic local taverns that I never would have found otherwise.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Dubrovnik can feel overwhelming with all the cruise ship crowds and Game of Thrones tours, but this place gives you a genuine base to experience the city like a temporary local. The 9.1 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects how the hotel manages to feel both intimate and professional. You’re not just another tourist here; the staff remembers your name and your coffee preference. It’s the kind of place where you can retreat from the madness of sightseeing but still be close enough to everything that matters. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own quiet corner in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

What Our Guests Say
Nestled within the ancient walls of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, the location couldn’t be more perfect—everything is just steps away, yet the hotel feels like a peaceful retreat from the bustle outside. The rooms are a beautiful blend of historic character and modern comfort. Tasteful décor, plush bedding, and thoughtful amenities made every moment in our room feel indulgent. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the rooftop terrace. The breakfast served there, with sweeping views of the city’s terracotta rooftops and the Adriatic Sea, was nothing short of magical. What made our stay exceptional was the staff. Every person we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely eager to make our stay memorable. Their recommendations, assistance, and attention to detail were impeccable.
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing!
It was full of character and was spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help you. It was in an excellent position.
What could be improved: The only criticism is that the standard rooms did not have tea and coffee making facilities. This is something that should be included for the price paid.
Location
Excellent location with well furnished rooms. Very good bathroom and comfortable bed.
What could be improved: Nothing

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike.
Breakfast was amazing and the view spectacular
Staff was attentive and wish we stayed for more than one night to enjoy the place even more than we did!
What could be improved: Parking is extremely expensive $65 … after the discount for one night
the roofvterrace
What could be improved: builders on adjoining property roof terrace
Well maintained property
What could be improved: Stairs to restaurant on the top floor. But it’s in the walled city with no elevators, so it’s a compromise
