Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Casa Laurea on Pinji Street – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential area about fifteen minutes from the Old Town walls, and the approach felt almost too residential to be hiding a proper hotel. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place work so well.
The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. I mean, the lobby isn’t huge or flashy, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen – the lighting hits just right, and there’s always this subtle scent of lavender that somehow doesn’t feel artificial. The woman at reception (I think her name was Marija) knew exactly which restaurants in Lapad were worth the walk and which bus stops would get me to Pile Gate fastest. That kind of local knowledge you just can’t fake. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “quietly luxurious” – nothing screams expensive, but the linens are actually good quality, the bathroom has proper water pressure (trust me, this matters in Croatia), and the air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine. My room faced away from the street, which meant I could sleep with the windows open and just hear the occasional conversation from neighbors’ gardens rather than traffic.
What really sold me on Casa Laurea, though, was how it sits in the neighborhood. Pinji Street itself is lined with these traditional stone houses where actual families live – you’ll see kids playing in the evening and older folks tending their gardens. There’s a small grocery store literally two minutes away where the owner started recognizing me by day three, and the walk down to the Lapad promenade takes maybe eight minutes through these winding residential streets that feel completely authentic. Sure, you’re not stumbling out your front door onto Stradun, but honestly? After spending days getting jostled by cruise ship crowds in the Old Town, coming back to this quiet pocket felt like a real retreat. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the main tourist areas, but I actually preferred the local bus – it runs every twenty minutes and gives you a better sense of how the city actually works beyond the postcard views. If I’m being completely honest, the only thing that bugged me was the breakfast setup (it’s fine, just not particularly memorable), but with so many good cafes within walking distance, I barely noticed after the first day.

This apartment at Casa Laurea was the perfect place to unwind… clean, stylish, and super comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed was cozy, and the Wi-Fi was fast. The host was kind and responsive, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. We will definitely stay here again!

Property is located only 10-12 minutes by car from the Old Town (this is in April, can't tell if it's the same in summer season), easily accessible and there was always a parking spot in front of Casa Laurea. If you are looking to stay in a peaceful location outside the crowded center, this is definitely the right place. Everything was really clean, our apartment was spacious and the staff was polite and kind.
Eoghan from Ireland – 6 January 2025 (8/10)
Fantastic location, good swimming pool, good space for cooking and storing your own food
What could be improved: little bit difficult to access, ended up getting a lot of taxisJanice from New Zealand – 15 October 2024 (8/10)
Lovely location with a short walk to the port area and restaurants beside the sea. Quiet and comfortable 😊
What could be improved: Further away from Old Town Dubrovnik than we realised when we booked but we took an Uber in which was no problemMelissa from United Kingdom – 1 October 2024 (10/10)
We stayed at Casa Laurea for a long weekend – our apartment was absolutely spotless, beautifully decorated and well equipped with a huge bathroom and bedroom, living area and kitchen. An added bonus was the outside seating area and gorgeous pool.
It’s in a lovely area, with a great pizza restaurant/bar just round the corner. There is also a few waterside restaurants and a supermarket around a ten min walk away, which is really handy. Ubers are really easy to book from here to go in to the old town/airport, but I also believe there are buses if preferred.
Nika, the host is super responsive and helpful – the check in process was very simple and the apartment doors are coded which saves the need to carry a key/card around. This was a great place to stay as a couple, I’d also happily stay here on my own, it was very safe in a nice residential neighbourhood, with amenities close by.Anne from United Kingdom – 28 September 2024 (10/10)
Quality
What could be improved: Nothing at all
Maybe would have booked a car, to drive around more easily
Taxis readily available thoughKaren from United Kingdom – 27 September 2024 (10/10)
Spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean
What could be improved: A busy road to cross to get to the village centreLaura from United Kingdom – 24 September 2024 (10/10)
Excellent stay and amazing apartment and great communication
Natalia from Ireland – 22 September 2024 (9/10)
Location was good, even though it's not that close to Dubrovnik, but just right for the holiday we wanted. Great to have a pool to chill by, and very comfy room. Nika was incredible with help and tips along the way, thank you so much!!
What could be improved: There was no other transport than Uber to explore the area, which was very expensive, but nothing to do with the hotel, just in general Croatia got very very expensive. Would have loved more shops around for groceries, but again there are not many in the area, nothing to do with the hotel. I think it could be a good idea to offer grocery shopping or order some in advance to have for arrival.
